Today I’m sharing details of my pregnancy at 38 weeks in my third trimester. Enjoy my 38 Week Bump Update for my third pregnancy.

38 Week Bump Update
How far along are you? 38 weeks 3 Days
Total weight gain: I’ve stopped gaining weight and am slowly losing weight – just like my other pregnancies. I believe my total weight gain is around 25-27lbs at this point.
How I’m feeling: Anxious, but excited to meet her. I do feel like I’ve been pregnant forever and wondering if she is actually going to come? Maybe she will live in there forever? It’s a strange feeling knowing how much our lives are going to change once she is here – but we are all thrilled.
My emotions have been out of control the last week. Sometimes I’m crying over a song and other times I’m angry for no reason. I’ve been working hard to control how I’m feeling, but also not holding it all in. The end of pregnancy is difficult and overwhelming!
Signs of Labor: 3cm dilated + 50% effaced + -2 stage. Infrequent contractions – some more intense than others. I did have a small membrane sweep at my appointment today and some spotting afterwards… so far I’m not in labor, but I hear it’s common to begin in the days that follow. I don’t believe she is going to come on her own though – and I do think that we are going to get induced next week. Only time will tell!
Other Third Pregnancy Symptoms
Heartburn: I don’t know what I did to jinx myself but the last four days I’ve had HORRIBLE heartburn. Like throw-up-in-my-mouth acid reflux. I don’t even have to eat to have it happen anymore. I’m pretty sure it’s because she is so low and so big, squishing my digestive system.
Bruised Ribs and Sleeplessness: I didn’t know it was possible for a baby to bruise your ribs but I think Baby A did it to mine. I’m in so much pain when I lay on my side as my uterus (or her foot) hits my top ribs at night that I haven’t been able to sleep. I slept so well all pregnancy that I shouldn’t complain I can’t sleep now!
Cravings: It’s still apple juice…preferably Nantucket Nectar Apple Juice… and Christmas Tree Cakes.
Lightening Crotch: Holy…crap… the burning pain that I feel whenever the Baby hits a nerve is crippling. Sometimes the lightening crotch is so bad I have to freeze for a few minutes before I can walk again. Truthfully, I hate that term and wish it was called something else!

Baby as 38 Weeks
Baby A: Baby A is as big as Princess Buttercup’s crown in The Princess Bride or a small watermelon. She can actually feel when I rub her little back from the outside. Sometimes I hope it helps her calm down when she is hiccuping for the 4th time in a day.
She favors curling up on one side of my belly, which can be very uncomfortable for me. Whenever she does this, we can see her breathing from the outside so clearly. When she stretches out we can also see her limbs – a little foot here or leg there. It’s so fascinating, a bit painful, and a true example of the miracle of life.
