Today I’m sharing details of my pregnancy in my third trimester at 30 Weeks. Enjoy my 30 Week Bump Update for my third pregnancy.

30 Week Bump Update
How far along are you? 30 weeks 5 Days
Total weight gain: I’m guessing 20-25lbs (I’ll know tomorrow)
How I’m feeling: It’s crazy that we are officially in the third trimester and nearing the end of my 7th month of pregnancy. I am still begging for time to slow down as we have some home projects I’d like complete before the baby’s arrival. The nursery hasn’t been touched (we are widening the closet and painting) and the big sister bedroom needs a closet makeover too!
I’m feeling a little bit relieved that my placenta is healing after my Level 2 Ultrasound today (read what happened at my ultrasound last month here). I’m still anxious and overwhelmed with some life stuff though. Also, I’ve had horrible acid reflux for a few months which has developed to nausea and vomiting over the last week (more on that below).
Level 2 Ultrasound Findings: First off, Baby A looked so adorable and she was hiccuping the entire time (a sign of well-being according to the tech!). My amniotic fluid levels are great and she is growing at a normal rate. The placenta shows an area of older bleeding and an area of suspected newer bleeding was noted as well as separation of the membranes. There are also “placental lakes” in this area. However, I am NOT on bed rest or home rest, just going back in four weeks to be monitored.
I’m a big fan of being able to wear my favorite Dudley Stephens turtlenecks – as long as they’re tucked up over the bump (as seen above with this skirt).
Third Pregnancy Notes
Second Trimester Glucose Screening: I PASSED MY 3 HOUR TEST! I still believe I failed the first time because I ate that kid’s Cliff bar…
Vulvar Varicosities: They’re so pronounced on my left inner thigh by the end of the day – it’s horrible! An updated post is coming soon with answers to your questions about these varicose veins on my lady parts. Read more about vulvar varicosities here.
Pelvis/Hips: Thanks to Dr. Bennett I am feeling so much better walking around, sitting, sleeping, etc. I am usually only achy and sore now from growing pains or being on my feet too much. My round ligaments aren’t as tender and she has done so much work to keep them from feeling ropy. I’m still using these pain relievers: perineal ice packs, this pelvic support v-strap band, a heating pad, and lots of rest. See me resting below (with my guardian).
More About Being 30 Weeks Pregnant
Heartburn: I was diagnosed with acid reflux over 10 years ago, but it’s never been this bad …. ever. Almost everything I eat results in nausea or acidic vomit burps (it sounds gross, and it is). My Midwife prescribed Protonix and Zofran but I’ve not been able to pick them up as both medications are pending with insurance. I’m afraid to eat anything fun so I’m sticking to bread, chicken, and applesauce – they’re the only things that don’t make me too sick.
Dental Issues: One of the downsides of pregnancy is swollen gums from surging hormones. My dentist this week said my gums are especially swollen, so I started using a prescription toothpaste to make sure I’m getting all of the bacteria out of my mouth. I’ve also started experiencing some damage to my tooth enamel from the acid reflux. Apparently after one throws up, you’re not supposed to brush your teeth immediately because it damages the enamel – so I won’t be doing that anymore.
Sleep: If the girls wake me in the middle of the night for some reason I have a horrible time falling back to sleep. But if I wake up to go to the bathroom, I easily fall right back into such a deep slumber.
Charlie Horse/Leg Cramps: The iron pills, hydration powder, magnesium cream are working SO WELL! My leg cramps have subsided at night (and I hope they don’t return).
Cool baby facts: Baby A is 3lbs 9 ounces and measuring a few days ahead of schedule – but overall she’s “just right.” According to my baby development app, she’s the size of Slinky Dog from Toy Story or a bunch of broccoli. Also, her bone marrow is making red blood cells (which means she will be able to thrive on her own once she is born). Our ultrasound showed a chubby faced sweet girl who loves to cross her legs at her ankles.
