I’m sharing my pregnancy symptoms, weight gain, cravings and more at 30 weeks pregnant. Here is Caitlin Houston’s 30 week bump update.
How far along are you? 30 weeks
How I’m feeling: I am starting to get tired during the day and going to bed a lot earlier at night. Heartburn visits me daily. And its beginning to be a little harder to move around with the extra weight and my basketball belly. I have a cardiologist appointment today – this shortness of breath thing isn’t ‘normal’ for how she is positioned and my body type according to my Dr. However, I am thinking my breathing problems are asthma related, for I used to have it in high school!
Total weight gain: Probably 21 or 22 lbs now. It’s funny because my belly is still on the small-ish side, so I think all my weight is in my booty. And my thighs.
Cool baby facts: Annabelle’s skin is getting smoother (she is losing that weird fur-stuff). She is strong enough to grasp a finger. Her vision is improving, even though she will keep her little peepers closed for most of the day in the beginning.
How big is baby? Annabelle is the size of a cucumber or a large cabbage.
Sleep: Starting to become painful – I can never get comfortable and keep waking up on my back. My belly actually hurts when I roll around. When I wake up my mouth feels like the Sahara desert, so I have to get a drink. Then I have to go to the bathroom 2-3 times. Also, I am getting calf cramps!
Maternity Clothes: My bottoms are always maternity – leggings or pants. Tops are maternity, or dresses, or long sweaters.
Best moment this week: The devotion at Annabelle’s Storybook Themed Baby Shower
Movement: Every 1-2 hours – lots of movement at night! It feels spastic these days and my belly actually looks like its shaking.
Food cravings: I know it isn’t food… but ice cubes. I can’t stop chewing on ice! I am sure this is wonderful for my teeth.
Food aversions: Nothing
Belly button in or out: It is out as out could be… I don’t know if it will protrude anymore, but you can see it now through lightweight shirts.
What I miss: My feet not aching after being on them for just an hour. Being able to breath while I am in a sitting position for a long period of time.
What I’m looking forward to: Crossing items off of my scary to-do lists. Putting the crib together. Picking up the changing table from Pottery Barn (that we’ve already purchased!) and getting that in the nursery.
Randoms: It is becoming more difficult to eat normal sized meals because it feels like there isn’t much room for my stomach inside my belly anymore. My appetite is not what it used to be. Mood swings are becoming normal – and I feel more sad and stressed then happy these days!

My belly was small for a good while too, but all my weight seemed to have gone to my butt and hips too. For the longest it was a stiff competition between my belly and butt, but my belly eventually won over. Now my poor bum looks so sad and little compared to my belly.

You look so friggin cute. At 30 weeks, I’m pretty sure I was at about 35 pounds weight gain. I was looking forward to your stomach finally showing! All your earlier posts, your stomach was essentially flat, but you were like “19 weeks!” Haha, I was the same way. Super cute. And congrats. You’re going to be an awesome mama; you already love that kid to pieces.
