Do you know someone with a new baby? Bringing food to a family with a newborn is a thoughtful and practical gesture. Here are 5 easy meals to bring a family with a new baby.
Whether it’s a family’s first or third baby, the first few weeks (sometimes months) with a newborn are chaotic. One of the best things you can do for a family with a new baby is to drop off a meal. Speaking from experience, the most welcome meal is anything. Breakfast, lunch or dinner is amazing, especially if it requires little to no cooking!
Freezer meals are a lovely idea for new parents – my Mom made me these five freezer meals when I was pregnant with Annabelle. However, one can only have so many frozen dinners in the freezer – and sometimes they take a long time to cook! After enjoying many meals from friends after bringing home a baby, here are some of my favorites.
5 Easy Meals to Bring a Family with a New Baby
Here are some easy and comforting meal ideas that will surely delight the new parents:
- Baked Ziti: A family favorite, baked ziti is a delicious and filling dish that can easily be prepared in advance. Layer cooked pasta, tomato sauce, and a mixture of ricotta and mozzarella cheeses, plus meat or veggies. Bake until the cheese is golden and bubbly. Don’t forget a bag of salad and loaf of bread.
- Bagels, Donuts, Coffee and Fruit: You can’t go wrong with bagels and coffee. One of my most memorable postpartum meals was breakfast from our favorite donut shop!
- Enchiladas: This delicious filling dish is easy to prepare ahead of time and reheats so well! My Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas or or my Mom’s Meatless Enchiladas are well loved by all. Don’t forget to include tortilla chips and salsa, or maybe Margarita mix too!
- Chili: There are so many different types of chili one can make – so pick something your friends will enjoy. We love White Bean Chicken Chili, 4 Ingredient Chili, and Sweet Potato Black Bean Chili!
- Soup: A classic comfort food, soup is always crowd-pleaser (especially when you add crackers or crusty bread). I have so many soup recipes on CHB, but if I had to pick favorites we always make Italian Chicken Sausage or Squash Spinach Sausage Soup.
Remember to package the meal in disposable containers to make it easier for the family. You can also include some fresh fruit, a salad, or a homemade dessert to complete the meal. Champagne is another fun add-on to toast the new baby! Your thoughtful gesture will be greatly appreciated by the new parents during this busy and exciting time.
