Sweet September
Today is the first day of my four favorite months of the year; aren’t the -ber months superior to all others? September brings promises of pumpkin flavored drinks, football weekends, fall decorations and my birthday. It marks the beginning of a new school year and a new season. September marks the start of the beautiful process of leaves changing from green to golden yellow, robust red, or burnt orange.
Each day of the month has the potential to be a different temperature, but mornings consistently become cooler. Slowly I transfer summer clothes into storage and gradually incorporate favorite fall pieces into our wardrobes as the weather permits. In our home, little bits of autumn decor find its way onto our shelves while the smell of pumpkin spice muffins or sweet potato chili drifts through the air.
Reasons Why I Love September
September is tucked between the finale of summer, August, and all the fall vibes of a spooky October. The ninth month has its own unique vibe as it symbolizes something different to everyone. For my family, this month is often busy as we settle into a new routine – but the chaos is welcomed with happy open arms.
I feel like my soul begins to softly sing in September. It’s the month I was born, so while I whisper farewell to a chapter of life, I’m also saying hello in the same breath. A birthday is more special to me than the start of a new year for it marks the real sensation of a new beginning. Isn’t it fitting my birthday is during a month known for its fresh start energy?

A not so happy anniversary
If I’m being perfectly honest, this month will mark exactly one year since my world was rocked terribly. Thankfully my friends and family helped me through the difficult time and I am a stronger person now because of it all. I learned to take the time to reflect on what’s good in my life with Notes to Myself and by looking through Magic Moments. While I fear over the last few hot summer months those habits have fallen wayside, I know it will be easy to get back on track. My pregnancy is over and it’s now time to soak in the new baby smells and silly toddler antics. Despite any lingering feelings of sadness, it’s really an amazing month and a season for new beginnings.
Here’s to Sweet September the one that brings the world new beginnings and FALL.
