Sharing a little life lately update with what we are doing, what we have done, and what I’ve added to my closet during January in 2024.
Life Lately – January 2024
Why does January feel like the longest month of the year? I never complain about a period of life taking too long (because I believe in that whole live-and-love-one-day-at-a-time thing) – but woah, this has felt like 3 months rolled into one. Nothing makes me want to skip over to February, I just want to know why January gets to have all of the fun with 100 days in one month.
Life lately is busy and exciting. We hired a nanny once a week for Arbor so I can dedicate my undivided attention on my blog and a few new ventures. Brandon started a new job that’s still home-based but will include a little travel (!). The girls went back to school/dance after the holidays and Arbor attended her first toddler tumble class at big sister’s dance studio. This month has been filled with new activities, a big (but quiet) announcement, a few illnesses, and one cool snowstorm. We also tried new local restaurants, celebrated two baptisms and my Mom’s birthday. Take a peek below at our life lately:
The Big (but Quiet) Announcement of January 2024
I have a really hard time at keeping big exciting news to myself. If you follow me on social media or receive my weekly newsletter, then you may already know this because I couldn’t stay quiet. I am co-hosting a podcast! Three of my incredibly talented and wonderful friends are the other hosts and we will be talking about everything from aging as a woman to screen time for kids. There are so many details I would love to share, but I want to wait until our website and social media channels are live. With that being said – make sure you stay tuned here and subscribe to my newsletter!
New Year Mental Health Check-In
I can honestly say I am happier and more at ease in January 2024 than I was one year ago. Last January was my first month at home with Arbor 24/7 since I went back to my part time job after she was born. I had resigned from my job and felt excited to navigate staying at home with blogging. Life became overwhelming quickly though – and before I knew it, my mental health started to decline. Fast forward to this January and WOW it feels amazing to be consciously aware of my good mental health status.
Since New Year’s resolutions serve zero purpose towards bettering my mental health, I choose to set intentions for my day. I started January 2024 off with a promise to do this more often than not. Two intentions I set frequently: “I will stay present in the moment” and “I will remember to respond instead of react.” There is so much power in setting positive “I will” intentions versus “I won’t” because negative words can inspire negative emotions. Positive self talk is one of the keys to living your best life!
January 2024 Shopping Cart
Most of my OOTDs consist of sweatpants/leggings and sweatshirts unless I have a reason to dress up. There were a few occasions in January that required me to step out of my daily uniform and into something a little more fun though! The majority of my outfits have one brand in common: Sezane.
Sezane has quickly become my go-to for classic high quality pieces I can wear a multitude of ways. My most recent purchases/gifts include: the Rome shorts, Paula Babies (they’re shoes!), Gaspard cardigan in Rosewood, Gaspard cardigan in Sage, black polka dot tights, Conrad T-shirt, and Lou Shirt. The Rome shorts are so comfortable and will be on repeat until someone tells me they aren’t in style!
Other items I purchased (and love):
- The best fabric shaver (because I dropped our original and it broke)
- White stainless steel knife set – under $50 and we needed new knives
- Handheld steamer – our original handheld steamer also broke (January is the month of things breaking) and I prefer steaming vs ironing wrinkled clothes
- Portable LED light to clip on my phone or computer for videos
- Arbor’s Biketard for toddler tumbling
