Arbor - Five Months Old - Caitlin Houston

Our third daughter, Arbor, is five months old (more like six as I publish this though). Today I’m sharing her five month old stats with 22 week old traits, likes and dislikes, and more!

Arbor’s Five Month Old Stats

Weight – 17.2lbs (5/12/22)
Height – 26 inches (4/21/22)

Arbor is wearing 6+ month clothing (and some of it isn’t long enough for her body!). I wrote a whole blog post about the Best Baby Pajamas for Chubby Babies like Arbor. She still wears size 2 diapers and a 6-12 month hat. See how Arbor’s size compares to Ailey five months old and Annabelle five months old.

Sleep: Life has changed a lot, a whole lot, since my last Arbor update. We participated in a two week sleep training course with Meg from A Restful Night and the results are incredible. Arbor went from only sleeping 30 minute naps in a full swaddle and snuggle me lounger to 60-90 minute naps in a sleep sack in her crib. She goes to bed wide awake and wakes up happy as a little lark. Don’t get me wrong – she isn’t sleeping THROUGH the night yet since we are still breastfeeding 1-2 times. But our whole life has changed in terms of sleep! I wish I had sleep trained her sisters… a full post is in the works.

During sleep training we learned Arbor is officially a belly sleeper. She is our FIRST to roll from back to belly as soon as she gets in her crib. She can flip all around these days, but does back to belly the best.

21-24 Week Old Traits

Arbor loves to play peek-a-boo and watch her sisters dance in the playroom. She can sit almost fully unsupported, but still topples over when trying to get her toys. She has mastered putting in her own pacifier (mostly upside down) and is really getting to know how to use her hands to play with her toys. Arbor can grab her feet and pull off her socks (so we don’t put them on, haha). She also enjoys grabbing hair, beards, my glasses and my necklaces.

Arbor makes lots of noises, sometimes sing-song noises, and also enjoys yelling. She screeches whenever she sees our cat, Mcmuffin, and gets very excited if she can grab his tail or belly. He isn’t very interested in her, but always comes in to her room in the morning to wake her up with me.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is still Arbor’s favorite show and the ONLY song that makes her stop crying while in the car. She likes when Brandon says the beginning of the theme song and always squeals with delight when she does it. I don’t remember her sisters paying much attention to the television but if Mickey or Bluey is on, she really seems to enjoy the colors/sounds.

Favorite Toys at 5 Months Old

Arbor likes to stand and play in her Activity Center – which is very easy to sanitize after she chews on all of the toys. She likes to sit and bounce herself in her Baby Bjorn Bouncer. We love the mesh fabric because it’s easy to clean when she has a blowout (which is often in the chair). One of her favorite teethers is this bunny!
