Are you looking for generously sized pajamas for your generously sized baby? *Insert giggle here* Arbor is by far our biggest baby, weighing 17lbs and measuring 26 inches long at 5 months old. We have been on the hunt for the best baby pajamas for chubby babies since she grows out of everything so quickly. Here is my honest review of your favorite pajamas for bigger babies.
Searching for the Best Baby Pajamas for Chubby Babies
Arbor has a lot of lovely little rolls – on her thighs, arms, and belly. They are so cute and make her even more lovable than she already is. In addition to being a chubby baby, she is also tall for her age. The weight plus height combination makes it hard to find clothing that fits well.
I have spent a considerable amount of time researching the top pajamas for big babies both online and amongst fellow Moms. There are so many brands of sleepwear for babies that shopping can be overwhelming. To help Moms out, I tested over 8 different pairs of pajamas for chunky babies on Arbor.
Each pair of pajama is a size 3-6 months or 6 months (depending on the brands’ sizing). I found a few favorite brands fit Arbor well, while others run very small. Here is my review of each recommended pajamas brand for bigger babies.
KicKee Pants: Size 3-6 months – $32.00
Pros: Ultra soft and stretchy, adorable patterns
Cons: Runs small in the waist and legs, hard to zip because they were too tight
Overall Review: RETURN. I wanted these pajamas to work because they are so soft. Even though they have a great stretch to the material, my big baby needs a bigger size. The price for KicKee Pants is not worth it if you have a chubby baby.
Owlivia Sleep n Play (Amazon): Size 3-6 months – $15.99
Pros: Cute style, 100% GOTS CERTIFIED ORGANIC COTTON
Cons: Stiff fabric, no stretch, too small around hips, not for babies with bigger feet
Overall review: RETURN. I wanted to love these pjs because the ruffles are so cute, but the fabric was so thick and stiff (not ideal for generously sized babies during the summer).
Burt’s Bees Sleep N Play Zip Up Footies – 6 Months – $7.81
Pros: Generously sized, relaxed fit, roomy, great price, 100% cotton
Cons: Heavy duty zipper, not easy to take off in the middle of the night as it zips from top down.
Overall review: KEEP. Burts Bees “Relaxed Fit” pajamas are ideal for bigger babies. Their fabric is always so soft too!
Little Sleepies Bamboo Viscos Zippy – 3-6 Months – $32.00
Pros: So soft, generously sized, double zipper (easy diaper changes)
Cons: Price (discounts can be found online)
Overall review: KEEP. The convertible foot is a game changer because it adds so much length to the legs. These are some of the softest pajamas for babies ever!

Wonder Nation – 3-6 Months – $5.44
Pros: Inexpensive, cute patterns
Cons: Not stretchy, shapeless, thin material, on the small side
Overall review: Keep as backup pajamas – we won’t be upset if she has a blowout in this pair and they need to be thrown away.
Child of Mine by Carters – 3-6 Months – $7.68
Pros: Fun patterns, inexpensive
Cons: Very thin material (feels like it could fall apart), on the small size
Overall review: Keep as backup pajamas – fabric softener would make them softer but Arbor has sensitive skin. We won’t be upset if she has a blowout in this pair and they need to be thrown away.
Cloud Island – 3-6 Months – 3 for $13.00
Pros: Lightweight for summer, great price, runs large
Cons: Material feels ‘cheap’ and rough
Overall review: Probably won’t last very long, but good ‘play’ pajamas
RUNNER UP: Old Navy Sleep N Play Rib Knit – 3-6 Months – $8.00
Pros: Generously sized – runs big but not too big, stretchy, very soft, beautiful colors, unisex, great price
Cons: Only three colors and only goes up to size 6-9 months (but they stretch and last a long time).
Overall review: KEEP! I will buy these in every color! They are so soft and gentle on Arbor’s skin, plus stretchy and have a 2 way zipper.
