Dear Annabelle // Five Months Old

Today I’m sharing a letter to my daughter Annabelle. From 5 month milestones to your baby favorites, enjoy reading about our daughter at five months old.

Dear Annabelle

We can’t believe you are already 5 months old! Time sure flies when we are with you, but not a second is forgotten.  We didn’t think it was possible to love you more, but you prove us wrong every day.

Oh Bellie Boo. You are becoming quite the little sweet pea, smiling at everyone and belly laughing for your Daddy and me. Everywhere we go,you attract the eyes of a stranger, who says how beautiful you are, and you return their compliment with a dimply grin. People laugh at you and your little tongue. You love to stick it out. Mornings are your favorite. We can hear you chatting before we open our eyes, babbling away until we wake up. Then Daddy puts you in your Rock-N-Play so you can watch him get ready for work. We now have to strap you in, as you’ve figured out how to backbend out of your rocker. As long as you have a toy to hold and can see us, you are as happy as a clam to watch either Daddy or me brush our teeth, shower, pick out clothes, or even use the blowdryer.

You’ve spent the last month developing many new skills. Sitting up is one of your favorite past times – so much more fun than laying down! Whether it is on your own on the floor, or in your high chair, you like to see all that is going on around you. You’ve been perfecting your grasp on everything – from toys to water bottles to Mommy’s glasses. If you see something you want, you don’t hesitate to grab for it. If you can’t reach it, you always let us know that something has caught your eye with a little fake cough or a cute little whine. Toys are a huge part of your day, and we constantly have to rotate new ones in or you lose interest quickly. Lots of household items turn into exciting things for you to play with. A spatula. The tv remote. Even a clean shirt. Whenever you can, you like to put blankets, towels, or a piece of laundry up to your little nose. Then you sniff and sniff the fabric and end up stuck underneath it. You are such a silly little girl!

My oh my how you’ve grown! On your fifth month of life, you’ve started wearing size 6 month clothing and size 3 diapers. In bathing suits, you fit in a size 9-12 month. We know you weigh just a little over 15lbs and that you must be well over 26 inches tall. You don’t like wearing shoes or socks because they get in the way of you trying to eat your feets. You’ve started putting your thumb in your mouth, but only to chew on it. Sometimes we’d rather you suck your thumb since you’re notorious for pulling out your binky and throwing it!

We found out that you have a dairy allergy this month. That means I can’t eat any dairy products or your belly gets very sick. You also may have poor sleeping habits because of this allergy. Fingers crossed that eliminating it from your diet will help you rest and feel better! The doctor says that you may grow out of this in a few months, so we will check again when you’re a little bit older. You also had your first ear infection at 5 months – and you despise the medicine the doctor made you take. Hopefully you won’t need any medicine for a long time.

They say some people are born with glitter in their veins. Annabelle, you shine so brightly that you must have glitter running through you, right down to your soul. Don’t ever let anyone dull your sparkle.
