Looking for road trip essentials for a baby? Here is a list of items to never leave home without when you are taking a road trip with a baby.
Whether it is by plane or car, Annabelle is becoming quite the little traveling pro. I know as she grows older, our essentials for road trips will change. However, right now our list is pretty standard:
Toys that make noise
Toys that are soft
Toys that are hard
A water bottle (great toy)
Mirror for her to look at
Blanket to play peek-a-boo
I always pack a ton of toys for long trips to keep Annabelle entertained. I take each toy out slowly, one-by-one, as we go further into our journey. After she tires of a toy (tosses it out of her car seat or in my face), we play peek-a-boo with a blanket. Then I pull a new goody out of my bag of tricks. After awhile, I give her a water bottle with the top screwed on tightly so she can lick it, suck on it, or hold it to her face. She rarely gets bored with the system I’ve created unless, of course, she is a) hungry or b) tired and can’t fall asleep.
Note: I sit next to Annabelle in the backseat whenever we go on a long car ride. We have learned that she travels better if someone rides alongside her. She likes to be able to see the other person. If she is alone, she usually freaks out.
Since I know that my tricks won’t last forever, I’d like to start making a mental list of what we’re going to need in the future.
What are your must-haves on a road trip with a baby/infant?

We took Beckett on his first road trip this weekend. It was only 2.5 hours each way, so he slept about 2 hours of it, but he definitely prefers someone ride back there with him! On the first half of the trip, I had to stick my hand backwards into his carseat and then he fell asleep holding on to my finger. Which was super adorable until my arm fell asleep!

Pretty soon, it’ll be all about having games & videos on a phone or tablet 🙂
