Kids say the funniest things. Today I’m sharing questions to ask your four year old for her birthday. We asked our four year old Arbor 30 questions about her favorites and growing up.
I cannot believe Arbor is four years old (plus four months). Consciously trying to slow down time since she was born has not been successful. Arbor is every bit of wonder and magic one could hope for in a toddler. She is on her second year of dance and this is her first year learning how to ski. “Pizza ARBOR” is a forever funny family quote because we have a video of the ski camp instructor yelling it at her.

A Few More Things about Our Four Year Old
Favorite Foods: Popsicles? Everyone knows Arbor loves a nice cold popsicle or visit to the ice cream man’s truck. What most people don’t know is Arbor also loves kalamata olives, pickles, and lemons. She could inhale multiple containers of fresh berries (blackberries, raspberries, you name it) in one sitting and likes to dip carrots or pretzels in ranch dressing. This year she tried mashed potatoes and a baked potato – both a win. Lemonade (pronounced lemon-lade), orange juice, and a juice box.
Meal Time: She enjoys fruity ‘peddles,’ scrambled eggs with ketchup, everything bagel with veggie cream cheese (on the side), bacon, and peanut butter waffles for breakfast (but only the blueberry kind). For lunch Arbor requests macaroni and cheese (Kraft-no butter or milk) or a mini charcuterie of salami, string cheese, sundried tomato triscuits and kalamata olives. Dinner time has not been easy with Arbor as she isn’t really into trying new things these days. She enjoys a slice of cheese pizza or a mini Costco pizza, hot dogs, chopped caesar salad, meatballs (only mine), buttered noodles, and sometimes broccoli.
Least Favorite Things: Arbor does not like loud noises, especially if it’s yelling, but has no problem making lots of noise herself. She is scared of most bugs, but has been caught talking to dead ladybugs or saying ‘Hello’ to a house Jerry (stinkbug). Arbor only likes playing soccer in our yard and now refuses to go to real soccer practice – crying as if we are taking her to the Doctor for a shot. She hates shots. Doesn’t like ponytails or top knots. Did NOT like going 2 on the potty until a few months back, but we figured it out folks.
Favorite Things: Her paci – which we NEED to get rid of but can’t somehow. Dancing – especially with her sisters in the kitchen. Beautiful dresses. A nice purse. Riding her jeep around the neighborhood. Playing with friends. Taking out every toy she can at her family or Chases’ house. The big girls at dance who take care of her/play hide-and-seek. Family dinner. Going out to eat – especially Christos and Michael’s. Shirley Temples with extra cherries. Spending time with all of her family members. Stealing my phone to make videos. Doing her own makeup. Braided pigtails – but not regular pigtails. Bows to match her outfit. Wearing her hair completely down and in her face.
Arbor at Four Years Old
Find me a toddler who has better manners than Arbor. She says “Please, Yes Please, and No Thank You” (even if it’s something mandatory like brushing her teeth). Arbor will even tell children at school “No thank you” if they ask to play and she isn’t in the mood.
Rough, tough, and fouse-er upper. Arbor is not afraid to wrestle, or fouse as her Daddy calls it. She is always covered in bruises from taking a tumble and rarely cries unless she is really hurt. I don’t worry much about Arbor sticking up for herself when she is older because she is learning how to now with her big sisters.
What are we doin’ in the morning? The girl likes to make plans and know plans and when she can read our kitchen Skylight calendar we will all be a little relieved to not have to answer, “What are we doin’ today?”
She loves to love you and will tell you so. A tight hug, a kiss goodbye, a tackle hello, a snuggle and a backrub – Arbor can make her loved ones feel so special. She calls her bestest sisters Abis and Aya (please don’t ever stop!).
You’re a camel. Her favorite insult for a little while.
