How far along: 17 weeks 3 days
Size of Baby: About five inches long from head to rump, which is the EXACT height of a jar of salsa (I love Alpha Mom).
Gender: PINK! I’ve been planning the nursery and stalking matching sister outfits like crazy.
Total weight gain: I had a feeling my 17 week pregnancy appointment weigh-in would be a shocker… and it was. 8 total lbs since my first prenatal appointment. The doctor isn’t concerned, but of course I am! I need to lay off the GS cookies and candies. I feel bigger then I probably am and the only people who understand that feeling are my fellow pregnant Mommas.
Clothes: Regular pants are officially retired until the baby is probably a year old. I’m feeling frustrated when I get dressed in the morning because there are five outfits I want to rotate, but I can’t wear workout pants to school.
Sleep: Daylight Savings can suck it. I’m already tired and its only 9:30am.
Cravings/Aversions: My unhealthy impulsive cravings are calming down – and I am finally thinking about healthy food. Fruits, salads, and grilled chicken are much better than Taco Bell Sriracha Crunchwraps. I won’t lie though – my love of sweets has not disappeared. I’ve been thinking about pies lately… could be because today is Pi Day!
Symptoms: I’m having a lot of lower back aches at 17 weeks pregnant, especially at the end of the day. Starting to feel some round ligament pains, but they are in the middle of my belly and not to the sides. Never-ending thirst. I can’t get enough water. Dizziness. Mostly in the mornings, but last Friday and today it’s kind of on and off and it comes with nausea.
Exercise: Officially a member of Flywheel’s unlimited class pass for the next month! Add in lots of nighttime stretching and a few planks here and there and we got ourselves working towards a fit pregnancy.
Belly Button in or out: When I wear a thin shirt I can see it flattened/sticking out. Even though my bump isn’t very prominent, my belly button has a mind of its own.
Mood: I feel like I have those PMS mood swings you think you get to escape when you become pregnant. I am happy one minute, crying the next, and 2 seconds later I want to judo chop anyone who crosses my path. Currently rubbing oils all over me like it’s my job.
Miss Anything: I swore I wouldn’t complain about my body changing but this whole “pregnant around your butt/hips” thing has got me down. After buying new underwear, I’m still uncomfortable and might
Best Moment at 17 Weeks Pregnant
My surprise Sprinkle at school! I was beyond thrilled that the one of my closest friends, Corinne, threw a joint baby shower for me and my best friend Kim disguised as a faculty meeting on Friday.
Looking forward to: 20 week anatomy scan on March 31st. The baby doesn’t move (that I can feel), so of course I am paranoid that she is not growing and that is why I can’t feel her. It could all be in my head, but that anatomy scan will be the reassurance that I need!
Check out: Pregnant with Annabelle at 17 weeks. I cannot get over the difference in how my body is changing this time around!
Yay for getting workouts in! I remember I always felts so much better when I worked out when I was pregnant! How sweet your coworkers threw you a sprinkle!
Congratulations on Baby #2! Even tho you don’t feel great, just know that you look great!

You look so stunning! Congrats on your 2nd baby!
Getting dressed in the morning is such a struggle. It’s still so hot here and I’m literally rotating the same few dresses but they get shorter every week. You look so cute at your sprinkle! I can’t feel any movement yet either and I’m so ready for my anatomy scan next week!
So sweet that you got to have a joint baby shower with your friend! You look great <3
Blessings,
