16 Week Bump Update
This is my 16 week bump update, sharing my bump photo and details about my first pregnancy.
How far along are you? 16 weeks
How I’m feeling: Other than having to walk around like an old lady so I don’t pass out, I have few pregnancy symptoms. I feel like I spun around 100 times in a circle every time I stand up. I also have headaches, which the Doctor says is due to a lack of protein in my diet. I need to change what I am eating!
Cool baby facts: Baby H is listening to my beautiful voice this week – hopefully not when I am singing in the car. He/she is forming taste buds and growing eyelashes (let’s pray they are Daddy’s long luscious ones and not my pathetic short ones).
How big is baby? Baby H is the size of an avocado. Guacamole anyone?
Maternity clothes: My MIL gave me 3 Lilly Pulitzer skirts that fit GREAT, plus 2 dresses that I can grow into. I also bought a few things when my Mom was in town last week that are nice and roomy. No maternity clothes yet though!
Sleep: I’ve started sleeping a little later… now until 7:30-8:00am. I also take a midday nap which I never did before I was pregnant.
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat again! Baby H is strong in the low 150s.
Movement: I could swear I felt a flutter when I was laying on my side Tuesday night. However, it could’ve been gas.
Food cravings: I finally had my pancake/waffle fix, so now it is Italian Style sandwiches – salami and mortadella and stuff pregnant people can’t eat. And a Pimento and Hot Pepper Jelly Grilled Cheese sandwich from Fickle Pickle. Oh and a cheeseburger, which I ate for the first time in 4.5 years yesterday. I never not been able to eat red meat in years, but I was okay after the burger!
Food aversions: I’ve been forced to get over the chicken issues because I need more protein in my diet. I haven’t had Chinese in awhile and I fear that if I do I will get sick. It just doesn’t sound appetizing.
Labor signs: No “labor” signs thankfully since it is very early in my pregnancy. I do have cramping, lower back pain, and what I think is round ligament pain.
Belly button in or out: Still the same ole innie at my 16 week bump update.
What I miss: Clear skin. Pregnancy has made me break out badly.
What I’m looking forward to: Is it a boy or a girl??
Randoms: I think it’s a girl… 🙂

I have been craving burgers too. It’s the only meat I’ve been able to stand. I’m 12 weeks along. Hope you are feeling well!!!

I puked every time I ate asian food the whole time I was pregnant.. eww. Mexican though I LOVED. I was border line anemic the whole time too and my Dr. told me that’s why I was craving red meat so much (I very rarely ate it pre-prego). You look teeny and great (:

Chinese food is loaded with sodium and MSG! Eat more beans and hardboiled eggs. Lots of Hummus!!! Italian bean dishes like white beans sautéed with broccoli rabe, brocollini or spinach. Mexican bean dishes. Forget the processed, salty, nasty meat! Your baby will thank you later. 😉

You will soon find out that you basically have to double the amount you eat while pregnant! I was the same way, constantly feeling like I was going to pass out.. Then I kept track of my calories with an app on my phone, and realized that I was almost 1,000 calories short a day, and once I started to eat more, I felt a million times better. Trail mix and other nuts are a good protein filled snack. I’m about your size, and my husband always made fun of how much I ate while I was pregnant, but since I ate healthy, I was within five pounds of my pre-pregnancy wait the first time I weighed myself 5 days after giving birth. Your baby needs lots of nutrition!

This is such a fun post. I can’t wait to hear more about your food cravings! And to see if you’re right about the gender.

I love these little bumpdates from bloggers. It is cool that you include us in it, but it is neat for your child someday to see all this documented 🙂

How exciting!!! When do you find out the gender?? And are you keeping it a secret from family/friends? Or will you have some sort of gender reveal party??
