Do you ever wonder what teachers wear to school? Part of my Happiness Project has been to get “dressed up and look pretty” for work. I bet most of you will agree that we feel good when we know we look good, so I have been getting up a little bit early to tame my wild beast hair and put together some first grade appropriate outfits.
What the Teacher Wears
I should clear something up for you though – and explain the background as to why I chose “dressing up” as one of my goals. Last year I did NOT get dressed up for school everyday. I usually wore a pair of Old Navy Chinos, some sort of plain short sleeve or long sleeve shirt, and loafers/sandals. I also showered at night and wore my hair up. I know it sounds awful that I a first grade teacher didn’t care how she looked to her students, but when you work in a poor, dirty, un-ventilated, un-airconditioned/heated urban school, you just don’t want to wear your “nice” clothes.
SO, this year, Happiness Project = new Mrs. Bear and new wardrobe (sorta). I have been trying extra hard to look my best every day so that I FEEL my best every day …. even when my beautiful little chickadees are driving me mad. Here are some of my most recent outfits:
I am always wondering what other teachers wear to school…so, if you are a teacher, do you dress to impress? Or do you dress down?

My Momma is a teacher and she always looks nice for work – always has as long as I can remember. She doesn’t wear heels or clothing that will inhibit her from being comfortable, but she does work on finding teacher-friendly clothing so she can still look nice. Personally, I think it’s a good thing ๐
I’ve been loving your outfits and think you’ve been looking so cute!!

I think it depends on dress code rules of your school district!! ๐ I try to dress up a lot during the beginning of the year bec we don’t start off with Clay or Paint (the two things that destroy all my good clothes LOL) I never wear heels to work, standing for 8 hrs in them doesn’t seem wise!

YOu get to wear jeans! My teacher friends aren’t allowed to wear jeans at all to work.
Love the outfits.. you always look fab.

I love how your 1st photo shows you holding coffee. A must accessory. I love your two dresses. I dress up. I teach middle schoolers, so it helps for me to look the part. I feel more authoritative when I’m dressed like a professional, rather than like I’m going to the mall. haha
