Weekend Update: A Texas Wedding. The Monday after a weekend getaway is never fun – especially when you don’t get in until 2:30am. We spent the last few days celebrating Brandon’s best friend from college, Dale and his beautiful fiance, Kate’s, wedding in Dallas, Texas. Read all about our quick kid-free trip.

Brandon and I haven’t been away on our own in quite some time, so the kid-free escape was greatly needed. We loved the uninterrupted adult conversation, freedom to watch whatever we want on t.v., and the chance to reconnect. Annabelle and Ailey are the light of our lives, but it is so important that parents take time away for themselves!

Dallas Grilled Cheese Company

You MUST try Dallas Grilled Cheese Company if you find one on a trip to Texas. Not only was the food beyond delicious, but they have a fantastic drink menu – local craft beers and interesting wines!

Our friends were married on Cinco de Mayo, so while the bridal party got ready, I joined some of the girls I met for margaritas and tacos at Urban Taco at Mockingbird Station. If you’re ever in Dallas and looking for modern Mexican, Urban Taco was really delicious! I wanted to hit up Torchy’s Tacos (because everyone said its the best), but it was a little too warm outside to take the long walk from our hotel there.

Fun Fact

Our hotel didn’t have any hot water until yesterday morning, so they gave us all day passes to the Lifetime Fitness center next door. Since I don’t wash my hair every day, I only had to take a quick freezing cold dip on the day of the wedding, while the majority of the wedding guests headed to the gym.

The Wedding – Church of the Incarnation

The liquor for the wedding was provided by Betty Cocktail. I didn’t have a chance to speak to any of the bartenders because they were slammed the ENTIRE wedding whipping up the most tasty cocktails.
