Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our babies could tell us why they are upset? The whining, crying, moaning, fussing… don’t get me wrong, Annabelle is great at letting us know she is in a horrible mood. But if we could know WHY she was in such a bad mood, then we could help her. There are little remedies for all of her issues… tummy medicine, bathtime, lots of love…except this new issue. We have yet to find the magic trick that puts a smile on her face.
Tips for Teething Babies
I’m positive my little princess is now officially in the full throes of teething. The doctor told us a month ago that she had started to teethe, but we are witnessing new behaviors that make me think a tooth might poke through any day now.
Signs of teething: excessive drooling, lack of appetite, smacking lips, sucking lips and tongue, hitting one’s ear, whining, rash, irritability, biting down on objects (causing pressure on their gums), and so on.
As of now, we have only tried the Nuby Pur Ice Bite Soother Ring Teether, Colors May Vary, Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether, a silicone teething necklace, Munchkin Fresh Food Feeders with an ice cube, wet washcloth, and Tylenol. She likes everything for about five minutes, and then starts fussing again. I have considered the natural remedy route with a baltic amber teething necklace – but I would have to find one today before we leave for vacation. I am going to pick up some natural teething gel and teething tablets before we go, just because I am about ready to give anything a shot.
What have you found to be most successful in comforting your little one’s teething woes?

Wine. Wine helps mommy and daddy to cope quite a bit. 😉 But seriously, it sounds like you are doing everything right. We tried Hyland Teething Tablets too. All natural, homeopathic. You can find them at most drug stores and Target. Hang in there, mommma.

We have used the amber necklace since she was 5 months old and at 11 months she still wears it. I think it helps with drooling because she doesn’t drool and pain during the day. I think the hyland teething tablets work well and in the night I would give her Motrin if the pain was really bad because it lasts longer then Tylenol. The teething toys work, like you said, for a limited amount if time, but they are good to have on hand:)

I cannot recommend the amber necklace enough. Liam got all four molars and now 3/4 canines at once and while there have been moments of misery, he really has been okay. It went on him around 5 months and he is almost 14 months now. If you can get your hands on one, I recommend it! Good luck!

We used Sophie the giraffe forever! Also, Harper used an amber teething necklace since she was like 3 months old. I would say it worked, because we had minimal fussing with any of her 12 teeth. Good luck with teething!

Beckett doesn’t like regular teethers, but he loves to chew on his pacifier. One of my co-workers told me that Target has a ball that it a bunch of pacifier nipples. We are definitely going to try that!
