Looking for ways to decorate above your sofa? I am going to show you how to get creative and figure out how to enhance the big blank space behind our couch in the family room since we moved in. Two years later, we are finally decorating the blank wall above our couch.
Everyone has been starting new home projects during the quarantine. Our downstairs bathroom renovation is going to take a bit more time… so I am checking off the family room wall above the couch first. This has been a great way to keep busy during the quarantine and get creative. My family has enjoyed coming up with ways to spruce up the wall. Today I’m sharing three innovative ways to decorate above your couch.
Three Ways to Decorate Above Your Sofa
Before you check out the options for decorating above the couch below, PIN this post for later!
Idea One // Gallery Wall Above the Couch
A gallery wall with pictures of your family is a great way to display timeless memories and fill up an empty space. Below is how I used my family pictures to spice up the wall.
Idea Two // Easy Floating Shelf Decor Above Couch
Similarly, there are so many different ways to accessorize a floating shelf. We have three floating shelves on the wall above the couch in another room in our house. I like to swap out decorations and photos out for different holidays and seasons. These photos below show a few fun options.

Pictures of the girls is my guess. One together flanked by 2 smaller individuals. How close am I?

I have been at a stand still for over 2 years and beyond frustrated. When entering my family room from the main living room, there is a kitchenette area that you pass on the left going into the family room. That kitchenette L shaped space has a wall that wraps around into the family room. The first thing you see is the 76 inch screen TV on a wall that is papered in an off white wood effect pattern. The attached wal going toward the right when facing the TV is the wall where one half of the sectional is on and has a small window at the end of the wall. The sectional is 38″ high and reclines. The corner piece of the sectional is rounded and the remaining half of the sectional continues on to the last wall which takes the sofa to the very end of the wall which extends a bit turning around the corner to the bedrooms. The walls where the sectional is on is an L shaped wall.
I have to idea how to decorate behind the wall. Obviously the furniture is not against the wall because it reclines. I have thought waines coating and a railing that sticks out to lay picture frames on. Shelves.I am clueless.
Can you help?
thank you
