Enjoy my latest installment of Random Things: September 2024. From random things on my mind to what I’m up to, reading, or watching, here is a random peak into my life.
Random Things on My Mind – September 2024
- School is in session and the germs have already entered the chat. How do kids get sick so quickly? And how can we avoid the sickness? I ask these questions rhetorically because I know there is no one goof answer.
- PIZZA PIZZA! We are going to the One Bite Pizza Fest this weekend and I could not be more excited. Not only will we be representing our favorite local pizza joint – Christos – but also trying all of the best pizza in New England.
- Why did Taylor Swift wear two dresses to the VMAs with “Down Bad” vibes? Is this an Easter Egg for an upcoming video release? Most importantly, why did she change twice at the awards show – painting her nails a different color in between – and once more for the after party?
- Fall is coming and I’m trying to take advantage of the beautiful weather before it’s all gone. Who knew the walking trail by my house was so glorious? (Photo above) Bonus: foliage is already saying hello here in my town – check out this post with Fall Foliage Arrival Times for New England.
- Speaking of fall, my family made my Grandma’s Chili Sauce recipe last weekend for the first time since 2018. I am eating it on top of everything: potatoes, eggs, meatloaf, chips, etc.
- FLAGSHIP – Have you heard of it? I am so excited to share my personal storefront with some of my favorite brands: Owala, Chappy Wrap, Staub, Hat Attack, Dudley Stephens, Beddy’s. There are always special discounts if you shop at my store, like Beddy’s is currently up to 20% off!
- You all know my love for Cape Cod… so you can imagine my excitement about my latest partnership with Del Mar Vacations. Want to book a rental in Cape Cod with 5% off your fee? Use the code HOUSTONBLOG005 at checkout to receive 5% off your rental home!
What’s in My Cart – September 2024
I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans – however, 3 hours at the mall left me with nothing but a sour taste in my mouth for today’s denim trends. On a whim I bought these black jeans (seen above) for less than $50 online and am pumped they fit! They are more casual than I was searching for but will be great for every day wear. Note: I do love my Le Crop by Sezane, but they are definitely not versatile enough to wear as frequently as I would like.
Here are some things I have bought and liked recently:
Random Things I’m Watching/Reading
- Watching: “The Perfect Couple” on Netflix – As a new fan of Elin Hilderbrand, I had high hopes for the mini series. However, I predicted the murderer early on so the series seemed to drag on. I recommend it to anyone who likes upper class scandal and murder mysteries.
- Watching: “Presumed Innocent” on Apple TV – This mini series was captivating, but another where I predicted the murderer early on. Definitely recommend for anyone interested in a thrilling mystery.
- Reading: Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas – I adored the ACOTAR series, so I had big expectations for Maas’ Crescent City. It is completely different than ACOTAR as it is less steamy and takes longer to really get into the storyline. I am halfway through and will definitely finish because I want to know what happens!
- Reading/Listening: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros – I am LOVING this story set in a war college for dragon riders. At first I thought it was going to be geared to the YA crowd, but quickly learned it’s more of an adult fantasy romance novel. I was told to take it slow because the third book of the series is not expected to be released until January 2025. Yarros says she plans to have five books in total too!
