3 Ways to Make your Fall Wardrobe more Interesting
I have never been adventurous when it comes to fashion – basic is more practical when you’re a Mom of three girls. However, I am branching out and trying to spruce up my fall wardrobe before winter comes. I like to wear my favorite fall pieces all winter long, but it can feel boring. Enter these three ways to make your wardrobe more interesting!
Patterns
Plaid, buffalo check, native designs, stripes, etc – there are SO many patterns you can wear during fall and winter. I love to mix and match patterns (you know me and my love for plaid) with basic neutral pieces. My husband has slowly been incorporating patterns into his wardrobe too as a way to expand his options during fall and winter. As for my daughters – they are naturals at wearing (and even mixing) patterns.

Textures
Texture is an overlooked feature when building an outfit. Cable knit, high pile fleece, quilted cotton. Don’t forget tweed, velvet, and corduroy. There are SO many textures you can add to spruce up your fall or winter wardrobe – you can always mix and match them too! Don’t forget the best part about textured fabrics: they work to keep in your body’s warmth, which is a must have for the cold months ahead.

Layers
The easiest way to add a little excitement to a simple outfit is LAYERS. Not only does a layer provide warmth, but this multifunctional item can make any outfit look more interesting. Don’t underestimate the power of a jacket (like this one) over a dress. I love wearing layers during the colder months in New England. Cardigans, coats, and vests are essential pieces to have in your layering collection.
