Enjoy my latest installment of Random Things: June 2023. From random things on my mind to what I’m reading or watching, here is a peak at my June.
Life Lately in June 2023
In case you missed it, I wrote a Life Lately Update for June earlier this week on CHB. Not much has changed in four days except Annabelle completed her basketball camp. She definitely has mixed feelings about basketball and I wonder if they would be more positive had it been a girls only camp. It’s hard to play basketball against boys! For me – this has been one of my busiest weeks in terms of work for this blog in a long time. I’m happy things are flowing again, but also using almost every bit of my free time to write/create content. Free time is limited with the busiest toddler in America at my heels, but I’m happy doing what I’m doing (and that’s all that matters right!).
5 Random Things on My Mind
Summer Skin Care // Even though we have had a mild summer so far, I’m doing my best to slather on the sunscreen every morning anyways. I put sunscreen on my face and neck every morning – but also any exposed skin before heading outside to play. I’m so scared of finding another skin cancer growth!
Painting to save money // When I took down the wreath above my bed this week I knew I had to put something else in it’s place. My sister suggested three framed photos or paintings, but after a quick search online I realized art is ridiculously expensive. Even the most basic prints of flowers from Target are pricey. So I took matters into my own hands, pulled out my watercolors, and painted my own florals. I always forget how therapeutic painting can be. Scroll down below for a sneak peek!
Resetting // Do you ever need a reset in the middle of a chaotic situation? Sometimes when all three of my girls are chattering and my husband is trying to talk to me, I have to walk out of the room. Maybe I say I need to use the bathroom or perhaps I pretend to get the mail outside – but I leave to take some deep breaths. I read somewhere its helpful to put your face in a bowl of cold water and will be trying this soon.
Dairy Free // I have been dairy free since January 2022 and feel like I’m struggling to maintain it lately. It can be really difficult to completely abstain from dairy when you’re traveling – not every restaurant has appetizing dairy free options. And not every gas station or fast food stop has healthy milk-free products. While I know my IBS appreciates it, there are times when I can’t avoid dairy. There are also moments when I feel like I’m inconveniencing others by saying I don’t eat it. I’ve actually tried to incorporate a little bit of dairy into my diet here and there – just so that my system doesn’t completely freak out when I do have it. Unfortunately the side effects of bloating and gas are rarely worth the delicious bite of cheese.
Exercise Every Day // I am physically feeling better than ever now that I have tried to incorporate exercise into my every day routine. Before I got pregnant with Arbor I was in the best shape of my life going to hot yoga 3-4 times a week. Now I am not just going to yoga, but incorporating at home workouts into my schedule too. My membership with The Sculpt Society has come in handy when I feel like dancing or need a quick workout. Use my code CAITLIN25 to get 25% off your first two months of TSS, plus a 7-day free trial!
