The transformation of the Family Room in our new house has been incredible. Before sharing all of the decor inspiration for our space, I want to show you the family room before and after photos in our renovation.

Before the Family Room Renovation

We never intended on tearing up the carpet in the family room. The first night we started renovations, my husband and brother-in-laws thought it was best to rip it up. The carpet was stained, off white, and outdated. The walls were an off white, almost beige, as well as the built-ins. I wanted light wood flooring and white walls, as well as white bookcases. I am SO pleased with the AFTER.
After the Family Room Renovation

Paint Color: Walls – Benjamin Moore Decorator’s White
Trim – Benjamin Moore Simply White
Floor: In Haus Solido Visions Laminate in Belmore (Blonde Oak)
Decor Inspiration for Built-Ins
I have always loved the contract of dark and light blue on white, but never considered hunter green or pink as accent colors. I truly love the way Bria Hammel of Bria Hammel Interiors designed the living space below.
I’m hoping my brother-in-law can build a window seat for the girls between the bookcases. Annabelle and Ailey would love pink throw pillows and a furry white blanket to lounge upon while watching the birds outside.
Currently, the only item we have for the great room is a 2 Piece Owensbe Sectional from Ashley Furniture. I wanted to decorate the couch with cream colored pillows and throws, but now I love the idea of light pink or blue.
I found almost identical vases while thrifting at Savers after we moved into our house. Check out the images of our shelves below!

Lighting
We’ve not decided on a rug color yet or if we will add window treatments. I love natural light, but a little pop of color or drawstring shades might not be a bad idea. Stay tuned for completed pictures of the room – I would say we may have it complete by September.
I love it! Those built-ins are awesome and I LOVE the idea of a window seat. It actually doesn’t look like it would be that hard to DIY. How wonderful!
It’s coming along great!!! And you will LOVE that renovating with your family is part of the story of your home! My favorite thing to tell about my townhouse is that my grandpa and I pulled up the tile floor together. 🙂
I’ve been admiring your decor, and I’m psyched to learn the colors you used, and the flooring, too. So pretty and bright. I love this ‘before’ and ‘after’ – it came out so nice! You really have a talent for it!
