Energy can be hard to muster after a long day when you’re a busy woman or a Mom. Today I’m sharing Energy Boosting Tips + an easy Energy Boosting Smoothie Recipe.
Energy Boosting Tips + Smoothie Recipe
Some nights dinner comes from a drive through window and bath time is forgotten just so you can fall into bed early. A few months ago, I found myself falling asleep during my daughters’ nap time once or twice a week, only waking to feel more drained that before. I consulted with my OB-GYN about my exhaustion and we came up with some tips for how busy women and Moms can have more energy.
Protein for Breakfast
The first way to have more energy when you’re a Mom is by starting your day with a protein. We all know it can be hard to find time to make breakfast, so stock your pantry and fridge with easy to eat choices. Hardboiled eggs, peanut butter and banana on toast, or a bowl of oatmeal are easy to eat when I don’t have time to cook.

Drink More Water
If you’re the type of woman who turns to caffeine for an energy boost, you’re going to want to drink a cup of water too. Caffeine is naturally dehydrating, so increase your water intake along with your afternoon coffee or soda.
Get Moving
If you find yourself getting tired mid-day, get moving! It’s hard to fall asleep during your toddler’s afternoon nap if you aren’t sitting down. Use the uninterrupted time to have a solo dance party while washing dishes or move your little one’s nap to the stroller and take a walk outside. Exercise creates energy in your body naturally!
Take the Right Vitamins
If you’re feeling tired every day even after a good night’s sleep, consult with your doctor about vitamins. I spoke with my OB-GYN about feeling lethargic in the afternoon at my annual exam in December. Since the sun hibernates with most animals during the winter, taking Vitamin D in addition to a Women’s Daily Vitamin can increase your energy.
My doctor added a B6 vitamin to my regimen as well, since my energy nosedives during the weeks before and after my period. After two months of taking Vitamin D and Vitamin B6 in addition to a Women’s Daily Vitamin, I have experienced a huge increase in my energy levels (and stopped taking naps!).
Make an Energy Smoothie
Smoothies are a great choice for an afternoon snack to improve your natural energy. They are an easy way to increase your intake of nutrients quickly too. I created an Energy Boosting Smoothie using a variety of products purchased online through iHerb (but you can find them at your local pharmacy).
Energy Boosting Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 tsp beetroot powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 c strawberries freeze dried or fresh
- 1/2 c bananas freeze dried
- 1 c raspberries freeze dried or fresh
- 1 whole banana
- 1 c water
- 2 c ice
- 1 tbspn honey
- 1 tspn Vitamin C powder
Instructions
- 1. Add all ingredients to blender and blend until completely smooth.
This Energy Boosting Smoothie is great for busy Moms who want to keep their immune systems high or the bloat down during that time of the month. Beetroot Powder and Turmeric Powder have anti-inflammatory properties while Vitamin-C Powder adds a quick boost of energy. I used Organic Freeze Dried Fruits in my recipe because they are easy to keep stocked in the cabinet. iHerb carries Organic Freeze Dried Strawberries, Raspberries, and Bananas. They are tasty as a snack too! In addition to these ingredients, I like a spoonful of organic raw honey for sweetener and a whole banana to thicken the smoothie.
Optional add-ins include: chia seeds, protein powder, almond milk, etc.
One of the easiest ways to stock your cabinet with ingredients found in the Energy Boosting Smoothie is by shopping at iHerb.
iHerb is a global leader in bringing the best overall value in natural products to customers all over the world. iHerb guarantees that you will receive the best overall value in the world for over 30,000 brand name natural products, like Nature’s Way. If you are a new OR existing customer, you can still get a discount off your iHerb order with no minimum purchase by clicking here.
I love using Nature’s Way products from iHerb because they are premium quality. I have a sensitive stomach and vitamins/minerals often react poorly with my belly. Nature’s Way products are sensitive and easy to digest though! I recommend taking vitamins on a full stomach in the morning or before bed at night. The other items I used in my Smoothie Recipe were purchased online through iHerb. The freeze dried fruit, honey, chia seeds, Beet Root and Turmeric powders, and Vitamin- powder are premium quality as well.
It’s so easy to order any of the products in this post! Get a discount off your iHerb order with no minimum purchase by clicking here.
