Every spring I get the urge to simplify everything — my home, my schedule, and honestly… my mind. Between work, school conferences, dance competitions, and the everyday chaos of raising three girls, my day fills up quickly. Spring always feels like the perfect time to reset what actually matters – or just throw everything away.

Easy Ways to Simplify Your Life this Spring
Whether it’s cleaning or cooking related, if there is a shortcut to make everyday easier I want to know about it. The last few years I have found little ways to simplify my life. Life does not have to be as hard as we make it. Here are easy ways to simplify your life this spring.
Simplify Your Calendar
We are the proud owners of a Skylight calendar (since Christmas). I still love my kitchen whiteboard calendar, but the Skylight is a game changer for schedules, dinner menus, grocery lists, and chores. There is an app that syncs to my phone so I can update it whenever something comes up or changes. Bonus: the rewards feature allows my children to earn stars for completing tasks – which they trade in for t.v. time.
Make the beds every morning – it’s the fastest way to make your room look clean.
Not only is making the bed after you get out of it a good habit, but it is a quick way to check one thing off of your list to do. By making the bed every morning, you’re going to feel more confident and motivated to start your day. PLUS a tidy made isn’t easy to crawl back into once the kids are off to school.
Put the kids toys away before going to bed.
By tidying up the children’s play areas, you’re creating a fresh start for the morning. We really try to include our kids in the clean up process, but sometimes my husband and I just tag team the playroom. I hope someday when they are older we can rely on them to clean up before they go to sleep on their own!
Wipe down the kitchen and run the dishwasher overnight.
I like to start the day with a clean slate. Since we begin our day in the kitchen, it’s nice to have it clean upon waking up! Every night I rinse out the sink, wipe down the counters, and check the floor for crumbs. I also load the dishwasher and run it overnight, so I just need to unload in the morning and we’re ready for the day.

Looking for a spring cleaning TIP? Here is how to clean your dirty shower head!
Sort dirty clothes as you take them off, so you don’t have to when it’s laundry day.
Your life will change when you have two different laundry baskets – one for light colored clothes and one for dark colored clothes. As you take off your dirty clothing, sort it by color to save time for laundry day!

Declutter One Room at a Time
Instead of whole-house spring cleaning, choose one room/space at a time. Start with storage spaces! Go through your cupboards, closets, drawers, and even check under the bed for items you no longer use or need. Then move on to:
- kids’ toy bins
- pantry
- bathroom drawers
- digital photo library
Make a pile of items to donate and items to throw away. Then actually donate or throw away the items – don’t let the trash bags of donations sit in the trunk of your car!
Simplifying life doesn’t mean doing less — it means making room for what actually matters. For me, that looks like less rushing, fewer obligations, and more time with my girls. Spring is a beautiful reminder that we can start fresh anytime we want.

Love all these tips! We use all and love it. Had NO idea they had mighty pacs, totally getting those! All about simplifying the mounds of laundry! Thanks!!
