10 Easy Ways to Make Mom Feel Special
As a Mom of three little girls – one being a very new baby – there is nothing more that I want for Mother’s Day than a little R+R. Or maybe just 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep and a hot cup of coffee in silence. However, it is hard to hide from the ones you love on a day when they want to celebrate you most!
Serve Mom Breakfast in Bed – Surprise the one you love with her favorite breakfast – but make sure to shop for supplies ahead of time! For the little ones – make sure to enlist a sibling or other parent for help! My daughters love to use a tray we have on the living room table as my ‘breakfast tray’ and always include a napkin, flower, and homemade card.
Give Mom the Gift of Sleep- I don’t know any Mom who wouldn’t love to be able to sleep in (or even take an uninterrupted nap) on Mother’s Day.
Create a Ten Things I Love About You Booklet – Handmade gifts from children are always cherished by parents!
Mother’s Day Poem: Another great gift is to ask a little one to answer questions about their Mom. Here are some options for fill in the blank Mother’s Day poems and prompts.
Clean Clean Clean – The easiest FREE Mother’s Day gift takes a little elbow grease. Every year I ask for one thing: a clean house! Oh and laundry washed, dried, and put away makes my heart smile.
One of my personal requests this year is the big siblings + Dad watch the baby. A little time to enjoy a hot mug of tea alone doesn’t hurt!

Offer an At Home Spa Treatment – When I was pregnant I loved when my daughters offered to rub my back or feet with peppermint lotion. A little at home spa treatment, such as a massage, is an easy and free gift!
Handprint Artwork – I love preserving my daughters’ hand size at different stages of their lives with handprint art. All you need is washable paint, a canvas, and baby wipes (to clean up the mess!).
Spend quality time with your Mom – We are always asking so much of our parents, so why not spend a little quality time with your Mom – asking her about her favorite things, best memories, etc.
Put together a small gift basket of your Mom’s favorite things – I know I would love a little basket that I can reuse around the house filled with coffee, candy, lotion, and a new coffee mug! Bonus points if the coffee mug was purchased at the dollar store and painted by my daughters. Check out this craft to make Easy Personalized Coffee Mugs.
Frame a photo of YOU (and your siblings if you have them): It is very inexpensive to print a photo at the local pharmacy! You can visit a thrift store for a frame or pick one up at any craft store. If you have little kids, buy a wooden frame and then have them decorate it!
