Check out how to style a maxi skirt for a simple mom outfit.
Let me start off by saying that I in no way, shape, or form think of myself as a fashion blogger. However, I do love pretty clothing and since my friend Lauren is an amazing photographer, I asked her to help me start a little something new on the blog. For now – let’s call it Simple Mom Outfits.
Every Mom deserves to feel pretty. Even if it means a little bit of mascara to go with a sweatshirt when you’re off to pick up your daughter at school, there is no reason a Mom should have to leave the house feeling frumpy. I’m guilty of wearing workout clothes (when I don’t even exercise) on an almost daily basis. I hear they actually call this trend ‘athleisure.’ But sometimes, I want to step up my Mom game. I’ve discovered one of the easiest ways to dress up, without actually getting dressed up, is by wearing something bold, like this bright berry maxi skirt.
The Ever After Berry Maxi can be styled so many different ways, but I’m loving how it pairs with a casual white top. My white loose fitting crew neck t-shirt is knotted in the front, which to me, make things a little more funky, but could totally be worn tucked in. The skirt zips up the back and sits above my hips, it is midi-lined and falls gently to the floor. I love the double slits, so I can sit comfortably or chase my crawling infant without worrying I’m going to bust a seam. My skirt is a small and fits true to size, but if it came in an XS, I think it would fit better. I’m on the petite side with all my consumed calories going towards breastfeeding these days, so in a year when I’ve weaned the baby, I’m sure it will fit just right.
To add a little something to my basic white top, I added my favorite emerald green bauble necklace from J.Crew Factory. The outfit also looks ready for a last minute date night by switching out sandals for a pair of wedge heels. I own a few pair of wedges that are really comfortable and not too tall so I don’t end up falling over. TOMS has so many great pairs this season that are adorable and safe for clumsy Mommas.
As far as bags go, I’m a fan of the big and spacious. I need all the room to hold diapers, toys, snacks, and boogie wipes. Lately, I find myself switching between my Lily Jade Madeline diaper bag and Neverfull MM depending on the day. A tan crossbody or clutch would also look great with this skirt if there aren’t any kids in tow.
Every Mom should be able to find an item of clothing that makes her feel pretty and this skirt does exactly that. It’s funny how a simple, but beautiful bright colored maxi can give me so much confidence in my style.

What a fun series! I love Target and Old Navy for that reason….cute, relaxing clothes that don’t look frumpy, but are perfect for SAHMs to “dress up” in.
