These are my reflections on motherhood of the innocence and magic surrounding my daughter.
Belly laughs, a scrunch nose, and spider monkey hugs… that’s what Annabelles are made of.
My Reflections on Motherhood
I think some apologies are in order… apologies to my sweet Annabelle for telling people her cuteness is deceiving. I always tell them they should see her when she is mad. But the truth is, rarely do people see her temper. Everyone who meets Annabelle says she is sweet as pie.
While it is true our daughter is the Princess of Temper Tantrums, her tantrums are usually justifiable. I know there are some babies whose personalities may cause more stress in motherhood than others. Maybe Annabelle would be that baby to another set of parents, but to us, she is perfect. She always has a reason to be angry, it just took me awhile to figure that out.
She’s still cute when she is having a fit.
She gets a little restless on long car trips, but who doesn’t start freaking out after 8 hours in a car? She cries when she is overtired, and cries if you take something away that’s not a baby toy, but that’s normal. She fusses if strangers touch her, which is normal. She doesn’t like if little kids poke her, which is also normal. Most of the time, our daughters’ cries and tears happen for a reason.
Her Auntie Lizzie summed her amazing personality up perfectly….“When she laughs, she always laughs from her belly… which is funny because her nickname is Bellie. When you hold her, she hangs on you like a spider monkey and loves to give hugs. She has a devious smile when she’s doing something she knows she shouldn’t, like climb the stairs unattended or reach up at something on the coffee table. She loves to “blow out the candles’ which is really just her making a slight hissing noise with her mouth and putting her lips together and its just too cute.” There is no one like Annabelle!
“She has a smile that will melt the coldest soul. She makes you forget you drove 2 hrs in traffic to get home. She makes the 7 hrs of travel it took Noni to see her like minutes when that little lady hugs her like a spider monkey. No greater joy could come then a smile from sweet Annabelle. Even though she does not yet speak, she tells you of her love by her smile or hug.” – Love Noni
To the joy of my life: Annabelle, I can’t believe in just one month and 7 days you will be one year old. I hope you never stop smiling and spreading joy to everyone you meet.
SO SWEET! 🙂 She is so precious!
She is such a cutie and sounds like a lovebug.
