Enjoy my latest installment of Random Things: October 2024. From random things on my mind to what I’m reading or watching, here is a peak at my October.
8 Random Things on My Mind – October 2024
- The darkness is really settling in here as we move through Fall. I always forget how Daylight Savings really steals the last bit of sun in the evenings – if you’re worried about your kids adjusting, this Guide to Daylight Savings + Sleep by my friend Meg is amazing!
- The foliage this year is just as gorgeous as ever – here is a Fall Foliage Guide for New England if you need to leave your neighborhood to see some beautiful trees.
- Halloween was always a one day celebration until I married a Halloween loving guy. From music to movies to decorations, my husband really gives Halloween a spotlight in October.
- Why are we all so obsessed with Amelia and Andrew’s chemistry in this long awaited Chicken Shop Date? Because it is REAL LIFE chemistry… and it’s so much better than the fake stuff.
- Speaking of real life, Netflix’s “Nobody Wants This” was the most watched show in the English language during its first week because of the on-screen chemistry and compelling storyline. Not everyone loved it though – as I read in this article saying it lacks real-life adult responsibility.
- The differences in Motherhood for my Mom (Boomer) versus Me (Millennial) is wild…like emotional autonomy did NOT exist in our childhoods. This article breaks it down with 7 parenting insights from millennials.
- I’ve been feeling very emotional lately as we approach the magical holiday season knowing my oldest isn’t getting any younger. Stay tuned for some unpacking of feelings soon…
- I finished listening to “From Blood and Ash” on Graphic Audio – it was exciting and an easy to follow storyline with themes similar to ACOTAR and Fourth Wing. I’m bummed that the next book in the series won’t be released on Graphic Audio until December though.
In My October Shopping Cart
I don’t have a lot in my personal shopping cart because I just celebrated a birthday and the holidays are around the corner. My daughters need a lot of cool weather items – shoes, jacket, sweaters, pants – since they have seemed to grow two sizes since last fall. I highly recommend Poshmark for girls boots and coats! I bought them a few sweaters and pairs of pajamas during the Gap Family and Friends sale.
If someone asked what is on my wishlist though… I want a Coffee Tumbler. We have never been a Stanley family – they are bulky and leak if they tip over! So when it comes to water bottles, I have always loved Owala and now want to try their coffee tumbler.
On My Radar October 2024
- Before the month is over I want to check out some of the Best Halloween Movies for Kids from The Everymom.
- Halloween treats that aren’t candy are wonderful. We went to trunk-or-treat for the girls’ schools and Arbor has been harassing me every 5 minutes to eat a piece of candy. Therefore, our house will hand out mini Halloween pretzels and I hope all the Moms who have candy loving toddlers thank me later.
- Christmas gift shopping for my 10, 8, and 2 year old is proving to be difficult this year. I have to send out ideas to family early on so I can narrow down what we are going to give them by mid November.
- We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary and I wrote my third installment of how I show him I love him. Now, what else can I do to irritate him?
- I slipped up on my dairy free diet and am regretting how it makes me feel (bloated, achy, etc.). I am back to looking for dairy free meal options that are just as delicious as the real thing.
- This year’s Netflix holiday movie lineup looks SO good! I am going to try to space them out to make them last … I usually binge them as soon as they premier.
