July always feels like the heart of summer—slow mornings, late sunsets, and a lot of time in the car (or on the couch) between trips. I’ve definitely been in a TV-watching groove lately, but with two vacations on the calendar, I’m ready to dive into my reading pile again. Whether you’re looking for a gripping beach book, a binge-worthy show, or my go-to summer beauty finds, here’s what I’m loving this month.

What I’m Reading This July
➤ This Book Will Bury Me by Ashley Winstead
A chilling, slow-burn psychological thriller with dark academia vibes—perfect for immersive summer reading. I listened to the book while packing and cleaning – it was a good mind break after finishing the Throne of Glass series (but nowhere near as good).
➤ Red Rising (Books 1 & 2) by Pierce Brown
If you love dystopian epics or were a Hunger Games fan, this saga is gritty, intense, and impossible to put down. I finished Book 1 quickly, but am trying to take my time with Book 2.
➤ Throwback Favorite: Two Truths and a Lie by Meg Mitchell Moore
I read this one last summer and still think about it—coastal setting, layered characters, and just enough mystery to keep you flipping pages by the pool.
I want to shift back into reading mode during our upcoming trips to Cape Cod and Hilton Head. Here are some books on top of my vacation pile: “Before We Were Strangers” by Renee Carlino, “American Royals” by Katherine McGee, “Morning Star” by Pierce Brown, and “All We Ever Wanted” by Emily Giffin.

What I’ve Been Watching
Despite my personal promise of less screen time and more book time, I have found myself zoning out in front of a show daily this summer. You can find me watching one of my July favorites from my laptop during family down-time or laying in bed at the end of a busy day. Arbor is fully embracing the ease of the summer nap while my older girls request t.v. time to wind down after a day in the sun.
➤ We Were Liars (Amazon Prime) – Moody and atmospheric, this adaptation of the YA novel captures the tension of summer secrets.
➤ The Buccaneers: Season 2 (Apple TV+) – Bridgerton meets rebellious girl gang energy; gorgeous costumes and plenty of drama.
➤ The Pitt (Paramount+) – A gritty, emotional new hospital ER drama that hooks you from episode one. Here’s to hoping there will be a season two!
➤ One Night in Idaho (Hulu) – This true crime four episode documentary is heart wrenching with all of the interviews – especially since I’ve followed the haunting story since 2022.
