Do you ever stop to wonder what Moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day? May 11th, Mother’s Day, is just around the corner. This year my wish list is pretty much the same as usual, falling under Practical Mother’s Day Gifts – alone time! It’s fun to pretend Moms can have anything though. Today I’m sharing my annual list of What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day.

- A clean house – like deep clean – from the oven to the window screens to the corners of the scary basement clean. Oh and don’t forget the toilets.
- To be left alone anytime she enters a bathroom (lifetime guarantee – children, pets & spouses included)
- A hangover free morning after a girl’s night out that starts as a quick happy hour but doesn’t actually end until a late night Taco Bell run.
- To sleep in until we are served breakfast in bed (I’ll take Neils, bagels + lox, and a side of Prosecco)
- A pedicure by someone other than herself with a lengthy foot massage
- Every single piece of dirty laundry in the house washed, dried, folded and put away
- A silent back rub and scalp massage (meaning no children/spouses can talk while it is performed)
- Or maybe a kid-free weekend trip to somewhere tropical (with all inclusive services – Rosé, spa treatments, etc.)
We all know that the items above are not that realistic – especially being alone in the bathroom. I think MOST Moms just want some alone time and to be responsibility free for a day (or two). Our mental loads are SO heavy that it would be nice to not have to worry about anything but ourselves for a solid 24 hours.
Looking to buy a Mom something? This list of Mother’s Day Gifts will be here before the big day!
Practical Mother’s Day Gift Ideas
An easy practical Mother’s Day gift (to myself) would be an update to all of our framed wall photos in the house. I love to include our newest addition, Arbor, in the hallway photos. Another easy gift? Frame my daughters’ school artwork and hang it in the playroom! These are two projects I bet a lot of Moms would love to have completed by someone other than themselves.
Over the years I’ve received some of my favorite things, including sunglasses, homemade jewelry and a pair of fancy sandals. However, I always tell my family my only wish for Mother’s Day is to RELAX. I don’t want to lift an unnecessary finger. That means: no chores, no dirty diapers, and NO cooking. It also means the house is cleaned before bedtime, so I wake up the next morning without a mess.
I’m sharing a few more ideas for your Mother’s Day Wish List in case you can’t think of something you want for yourself.
Cozy Pajamas, Athleisure or Loungewear
Cozy Pajamas – One of my go-to pajama brands is LAKE because they have the most comfortable fabrics and timeless patterns/prints. I own quite a few pairs in various styles (this is my favorite robe)! I even wore a pair of non-maternity pajamas by Lake in the hospital with Arbor. If I am not wearing Lake, I am in shorts or sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt.
Athleisure or Loungewear – Moms love a matching set. There is nothing easier than being able to get dressed for the day by simply throwing on a coordinating top and bottom. My favorite brands for matching sets are Aerie and Free People. I also own this affordable and chic sleeveless top and wide leg pants set (less than $40). If your Mom loves to exercise, the Align Rib fabric is the best!
Kitchen Essentials for Moms
I love to spend time in the kitchen – so any kitchen themed gift for Mother’s Day is a great gift in my mind! If your special “Mom” doesn’t like the kitchen, then skip this list!
I use my SMEG tea kettle and Ninja Coffee Maker every day – they’re worth every penny! If you’re looking for a more affordable kettle, the SMEG Mini or Electric Kettle are highly recommended. When it comes to cooking, the Lodge Cast Iron cookware collection is my favorite. Lodge looks like Le Creuset cookware, but is less expensive!
Mother’s Day Gifts I Have Received and Love
Want to know what I have received and loved for Mother’s Day? A beautiful Dutch Oven, A Match Cloche, Acrylic Stemless Wine Glasses, Winesulator (holds a bottle of wine), indoor plug-in bug catcher, Coupe Glasses, an outdoor plant (like a Hydrangea bush!)
Thanks for the ideas, Caitlin! Always appreciated….like a totally clean house would be!
Would really like the clean garage, done by someone else! But if not that, that cute hat from Hat Attack would be great!
