Sun protective swimwear is a must have for summertime. The sun can be dangerous on even the most cloudy days, so it’s important to practice sun safety. Today I’m sharing our sun safe family swimwear from Cabana Life, a brand dedicated to protecting families in the sun.
Matching family swimwear is one of my little pleasures in life. We brought along our sun protective Cabana Life swimwear with a UPF rating of 50+ to Nantucket last month. The fabrics block 98 percent of UVA and UVB rays, dries quickly, and stands up to chlorine and saltwater. The brand designs swimsuits for every member of the family from age 3 months and up.
Protective Swimwear for the Family
Cabana Life carries sun protective beachwear for everyone. Ailey, age 3, has extremely fair skin, so we always have to reapply sunscreen while outside to ensure she is safe in the sun. Annabelle, age 6, has darker skin but still requires frequent sunscreen reapplications with how much time she spends in the water. Our solution: the Cabana Life Unisuit. The unisuit is convenient for my extremely active girls because the zipper makes it so easy to put on/take off.
I’m a sucker for matching swimsuits for the entire family and Cabana Life makes it possible. There are plenty of styles in the same prints too!
Sun Protective Beachwear
I have never owned a beach coverup with sun protection …until now! Cabana Life designs a variety of tunics and coverups in different fabrics for women and girls to protect your skin in the sun. I’ll be wearing the Navy/White Trim Terry Tunic all summer, as it’s made with UPF 50+ cotton/poly terrycloth so soft that you’ll never want to take this off.
As for men, Cabana Life designs a number of relaxed fit rashguards. The quick-dry is soft and lightweight, plus the UPF 50+ sun protection lasts the life of the garment.
If you have a husband with particular tastes it can be difficult to encourage him to match the whole family. Brandon loves the pattern of the Blue Cove Swim trunks, as well as the fit and style.
Why should I wear sun protective swimwear?
The benefits of wearing sun protective swimwear and clothing is that it protects your skin underneath. The harmful UVA and UVB light shining down from the sun can penetrate most fabrics. The UPF 50+ fabric used by Cabana Life blocks 98% of those dangerous UVA & UVB rays! Skin cancer is preventable when you take extra care of your skin. Read how to get a skin cancer check here.
This summer I discovered I have the most common form of skin cancer, Basal Cell Carcinoma. It is treatable, but also could have been prevented if I stayed out of tanning beds as a teen. I am now more aware of how important it is to protect my and my family’s skin.
Cabana Life is a brand built on sun protection and founded by two incredible women, one of which who faced Melanoma (skin cancer) herself. Thank you to Cabana Life for sending my family matching sun safe swimsuits. All opinions in this post are my own.
