Before you set out for your first summer vacation, make sure these Beach Bag Must Haves are packed! Here are four simple summer items necessary for the beach. What are your beach bag essentials?
Do you have a summer vacation planned? Last year the Coronavirus pandemic cancelled a lot of summer trips. This summer so many people are traveling! For us, we only have a few short trips. There are so many beautiful beaches in New England to visit and we are checking two new places off of our bucket list.
Notes from summer 2020: Since I already had Covid-19 we aren’t as worried about traveling, plus I am itching to get out into the world again. My family and I are excited to pack our beach bags for Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket! Brandon and I visited Nantucket in the fall, but never during the summer.
Here are my top 4 beach bag essentials for 2022
My bottom lip can become three times the size of my top when it gets sunburned. I always pack sunscreen lip balm in my purse year-round to avoid the awkward (and dangerous) burn. Our bottom lips are very sensitive to the sun, so it is important to protect your lips with a sunscreen lip balm. This is another great chapstick with spf that’s small, inexpensive, and easy to carry!
Don’t forget to protect your scalp! This Hair and Part Poof Powder is easy to use on dry hair when it comes to protecting your scalp in the sun. If your hair is wet from the ocean, bring a wet brush and use Sun Bum Hair and Scalp spray to detangle and protect your head.
All Over Sun Protection
The rest of my body is protected from the sun a few different ways. From sunscreen to a packable UPF wide brim hat to a rashguard, I make sure to bring along everything you need for all over sun protection. There are so many different brands designing cute UPF 50+ sun protective clothing that you could wear a sun-proof dress, pants, or romper to the beach.
I rarely wear my nice sunglasses to the beach when there is a chance one of my daughters will step on them or they fall in the ocean. All of these sunglasses are under $20.

If you happen to end up with a sunburn after a day at the beach, immediately treat the burn with Vitamin E and moisturizer. This Maui Burn to Bronze is an aloe and it works wonders.
A Beach Cooler
Hydration is key when you’re in the sun and salt water. We always pack a cooler filled with ice, water, and other drinks. We have this cooler and I have my eye on a wine cooler for a girls’ trips. There are so many insulated drink holders to choose from to insure your beverage stays cold! Brandon loves this drink can cooler and I enjoy this insulated wine bottle and wine cup set.
Don’t forget your blanket – my go-to beach blanket is a Chappy Wrap! They are big, easy to carry along, and sand wipes off quickly.
