In honor of our 6 year wedding anniversary I thought it would be fun to dedicate my Friday Favorites to some of my favorite moments with Brandon. If I named all of my favorite moments in the 11 years we’ve been together, the post would be 1,000 pages long. So here are my top 10. Enjoy!
one.
The Bible says God knew before I was born that I would one day marry my soul mate. He created me and my soul mate with each other in mind. I can’t say that I knew I would someday marry Brandon when I met him 12 years ago on a cruise ship – but honestly, I knew he was special and I didn’t want to let him go.
two.
The day Brandon asked me to marry him was by far one of the greatest days of my life. It was a surprise, a shock, and my dream come true. Six years ago I didn’t know how much my life would change when we promised to spend our lives together forever.
three. During Annabelle’s birth, Brandon was my rock. Even though hospitals make him nauseous and needles make him sweat, he stuck by my side through every awful and scary part of my labor and delivery.
four.
I’ll never forget the look on Brandon’s face when he held Annabelle for the first time – pride, joy, excitement, the happiness running through him practically radiated out of his body and lit up the room.
August 2005. Cape Cod. The first time we ever visited our now favorite vacation spot. I loved this boy so much 10 years ago and love him so much more every day.
six.
Snowed in together in Maryland – February 2010. We had just moved to Blue Crab Country and got hit with 40 something inches of snow in one weekend. It was SO much fun. We felt like we were in the scary hotel from The Shining since we lived in a new apartment complex that was barely populated.
seven.
Our first REAL Christmas tree with our first furry baby Mcmuffin. We had no idea when we took this picture that exactly ONE YEAR LATER we would have a real baby under our Christmas tree. Brandon didn’t want to get a cat but I begged him for months.
When we went to the adoption center, I tried to take home a tiny kitty that resembled a possum. Brandon talked me out of the possum (even though he said he didn’t want a kitty) and into getting a tiny orange kitten named Liam. Four years later, Brandon and Muffin are still bestest friends!
eight.
Our first dance… I remember crying like a baby because I was SO happy to finally be in his arms as his wife. Brandon and I practiced a dance I made up for weeks before the wedding that we could do to our wedding song, “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray LaMontagne or our second favorite song, “Moondance” by Van Morrison. I remember teaching him how to do a little swing dance move in the middle of our living room in our tiny apartment while we played “Moondance” on repeat. We were so proud of our little dance!
nine.
Annabelle’s first snow… I will never forget how excited we were to bring her outside. She was so tiny – just two months old – and Brandon wanted me to get some photos of him and her in the snow together. He was so gentle with her, so loving, and my heart melted as I stood behind the camera lens. Sometimes there is nothing more beautiful than watching the way your husband loves the child you made together.
ten.
The sunset in Cape Cod might be one of the most stunning I’ve ever seen. Both last summer and this summer, Brandon was SO excited to bring Annabelle to the beach to watch the sun set. I love the way he loves to show Annabelle things, like the simplicity in the beauty of a sunset.
This year we are celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary as a family – pumpkin picking and pizza making – and I couldn’t be more happy. My heart feels so full when we are together and my life feels complete.
