Originally written in 2015. This post discusses my favorite Essential Oils for Spring Discomfort. Here is the trio of oils I use to soothe occasional discomfort from seasonal and environmental threats.
Birds are chirping. The sun is slowly rising. Fragrant flowers are creeping up through the ground. Spring is finally here and … ACHOO, so are your allergies.
I never felt irritation from the spring blooms until I moved to Tennessee in 2005. With flowering trees all over campus, Knoxville in the springtime can be both beautiful and miserable. I had more sinus infections during college at the University of Tennessee than I had prior to living in the south.
Then we moved to Atlanta and the pollen wreaked havoc on my eyes, nose, and throat. And in Maryland I frequented my doctor’s office for head colds so much that the receptionists all knew me on a first name basis.
A few weeks ago, spring hit the Georgia with a vengeance. First, I noticed the daffodils peaking through the grass outside my school. Then I caught a glimpse of the pollen on my car. I could feel the pressure of whatever floats around in the air during spring sitting on my face.
I tried a variety of remedies for a week, but had no immediate relief. I am also breastfeeding and do not like putting medicine into the milk my daughter drinks. Wanting to go the natural route, I started taking vitality essential oils in a capsule every morning. Literally 30 minutes after taking the allergy trio, my head is clear, my throat feels fine, and I feel ready to face the day.
You can use the Allergy Trio – Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint to soothe occasional discomfort from seasonal and environmental threats.
Internally – I put two drops Vitality Peppermint, Lemon, and Lavender in a vegetable capsule. I swallow the pill with a large glass of water.
Topically – You can apply 2-3 drops of each oil to your feet or the back of your neck with a carrier oil.
Diffuse – Peppermint, lemon and lavender are known for being cleansing oils. I place 2-3 drops of each oil in my diffuser and let it run for 30 minutes to an hour.

UPDATE JULY 2020
Since this post was first written I have been diagnosed with severe environmental allergies. I am on numerous prescriptions to control the side effects from my contact with the allergens, but also use soothing essential oils.
using oils has changed my life where my allergies are concerned! I have not had one sinus infection since I started using them, and no flare ups this year.
I am fortunate enough to not have to suffer from allergies. But, I AM beginning to see the tremendous benefits of essential oils. I am not in a central oils advocate or consultant. I just know that everyone is talking about how effective they are treating just about everything.
