Now that school’s out, my family and I have been spending most of our free time visiting family and friends all over the East Coast. I’ve wanted to host a gathering for the people in our home state, but it’s so hard to find the time to prepare a fantastic meal in a short amount of time. With Walmart’s Marketside products, its easy to quickly put together an effortless meal for our guests!
Since we have been traveling so much this summer, our fridge is often barren. We eat a lot of takeout, but when we are going to have guests, I always want to serve them something halfway homemade! Walmart’s Marketside offers fresh, ready made or easy-to-make items that can be enjoyed alone, or combined with others to create an effortless summer dinner. Last weekend we were having a small gathering, so I picked up a medium five cheese pizza and a lemon pepper rotisserie chicken.
Walmart makes ready to bake “Hot & Fresh” pizzas in a variety of flavors and sizes. The pizza cooks in 12-15 minutes in the oven, right on the rack! I love how crispy the crust gets when its cooked on the rack alone.
A delicious pairing for a Marketside Pizza is a light romaine salad topped with rotisserie chicken, strawberries, and slivered almonds. I LOVE Marketside rotisserie chickens because they are already cooked! Plus, I save time by using a rotisserie chicken instead of having to slave over a hot kitchen cooking my own. I also purchased strawberries, sliced almonds, and pre-washed romaine lettuce from Walmart as well.
While the pizza cooked, I started on the salad. The chicken was easy to pick apart. I used my fingers to pull off the skin and take the breast apart. The rotisserie chicken is tender, juicy, and SO yummy.
I rewashed the lettuce and strawberries and took the almonds out of their packaging. I like to serve deconstructed salads when I am hosting a gathering in case guests have allergies or they’re picky. By separating all of the ingredients, my guests can pick and choose what they put in their salad. I like to serve strawberries whole in the summertime since they’re more fun to eat with the stem still on!
I also tell my guests to dress their salad however they may like – oil and vinegar, Italian, Caesar, etc. Personally, when I am eating a salad alongside something heavy, like pizza, I don’t use any dressing at all! The rotisserie chicken is so flavorful that you don’t need anything on top of it.
I had a little helper while I was getting ready for our guests. She decided the strawberries were calling her name, so I let her help her cute little self.
Once the pizza was finished cooking, all I had to do was arrange our meal on the island. Paper plates, paper napkins, and plastic silverware and cups make for an easy clean up.
Thanks to Walmart’s Marketside pizza, rotisserie chicken and Diet Coca-Cola, I made a delicious meal in less than 20 minutes. Be sure to check out more delicious effortless meal inspiration. I would love to hear how you save time in the summer creating yummy easy to make dishes for your friends and family!
