This post tells how to assemble a Big Sister Gift for your little girl to have on the day a new baby is born.
Becoming a big sister is kind of a big deal. I mean who really wants to give up the Only Child title and all the attention that comes with it? When we told Annabelle she was going to be a big sister, she was THRILLED beyond expectation. Somehow she understood a sibling would be a lifelong playmate. She also believed a new baby would be her real life toy.
Introducing a new baby to a big sister can be nerve-wracking.
Even though Annabelle was excited, we knew when the baby arrived things could be catastrophic. It was important to make sure Annabelle felt special at the hospital. We had a sneak peek into Annabelle’s reaction to her Mom with a new baby and she didn’t like sharing my attention. With hopes of avoiding a meltdown, we prepared a big sister gift for Annabelle when she came to meet her new sister.
The Big Sister Gift
Annabelle’s current ballerina obsession made it easy to choose what kind of bag I would purchase and fill with goodies. I discovered My Loving Tree on Etsy when searching ballerina bag. The shop makes a variety of personalized handmade gifts for all ages and occasions. We chose a ballerina themed bag and a matching zipper pouch (c/o My Loving Tree).
The ballerina themed bag features an original illustration of a ballerina by the shop owner and was customized to look like Annabelle. All you have to do is include the name, skin tone (fair, medium, dark), hair color (red, blond, brown, black), and dress color in the notes on your order. Annabelle thought she was rather special for not only having a tiny ballerina that looked like her on the bag, but also owning a matching dress (one of the gifts we put in the bag).
We had the Big Sister bag all ready and waiting for Annabelle beside the hospital bed. She was so excited to receive a gift from her new baby sister that she didn’t even care about Mommy holding her.
Here are some more great ideas for Big Sister Gifts:
A Big Sister Shirt (with a matching Little Sister Shirt)
Favorite snacks or Candy (to eat at the hospital)
Small coloring book and crayons (to do at the hospital)
Big Sister Cup
What would you put in a Big Sister Gift bag?
I love the picture of Miss Annabelle holding her bag it is frame able for sure NONI wants one of those.
I love this idea! We have a special present for Big Sister from the baby that I’ve already put in my hospital bag, but I love the idea of a little goody bag with snacks and hospital-appropriate toys as well.
