Everyone has an after work routine. For me, it’s a variation of the same thing. Here is what I do after school every day.
Every day when I get home (unless I have class or go to Zumba), I follow a little routine:
– arrive home around 3:30
– stuff my face with whatever I can find
– stuff my face with whatever I can find
– change into comfy clothes
– watch DVRd shows/surf net
– make dinner for hubsby (sometimes myself)
– surf net/watch t.v.
– go to sleep by 9:30
As you can see I am unproductive…I spend most of my time sitting on the couch, laptop in lap, t.v. turned to the Food Network. I am a little bit embarrassed finally admitting to myself how lazy I really am.
Mr. Bear pointed it out to me last night – that for the past week I have had my hands glued to the keyboard.
He said I look like a little owl, with my big eyes peeking over the top of my laptop screen every once in awhile, just to look around the room. He usually tries to talk to me, but I only reply, “Whooooo.”
To be fair – I was researching our spring break options last week. But now that our trip is booked, I have spent more time than I’d like to admit “planning hypothetical spring break outfits.” Surfing clothing websites when spring break isn’t for another 46 days = pathetic!
(**Interruption: Do NOT buy lotion at Dollar Tree. I bought some heavy duty lotion for my super duper dry skin that 1. doesn’t work and 2. smells like MOTOR OIL. I am gagging while I type this because I keep getting a whiff of the nastiness on my arms. Yak.)
I also spend a lot of time looking for worksheets for my first grade class. Sometimes I’ll come across a great free packet, most of the time, I just waste an hour stalking teaching blogs and making myself feel bad for not doing more for my classroom.
I feel like I need to make my nights more productive.
I need to be like this chick:
I need to be like this chick:
Our guest room is still a hot mess, and our basement bar hasn’t been unpacked. Laundry is usually ignored until the weekend, and our office room hasn’t been organized.
If I am proactive on the house, I won’t spend so much time on the weekend trying to get things in order.
Plus being active burns calories = keeps my butt from getting bigger before spring break.
What do you do when you get home from work?
Comfy clothes and then… I think I am a lot like that first picture! So cute in a cat; not so cute in a human (this human anyway!)! I do eventually become like the last picture (I like that feeling of cooking for my family – it’s a joy to me!) but it takes tea and a short break to get me there!
Cute post!

I get home around 6, take the dog out for a stroll and get her fresh water/food, take a shower and try to eat dinner no later than 7:30 – 8 and then it’s couch time…bed time no later than 10. yeah, I have an exciting life.
I’m hoping with daylight savings time coming up around the corner I’ll be more motivated. (in my defense I work out during lunch on MWF – just need to get motivated to do something at home on T/TR)
That cat pic had me LMAO! I feel you on this one. Typically I hit the gym/class/whathaveyou before I come home, but with my 45 minute commute that puts me home at 7:30-8pm. Granted, I have already burned my calories for the day, but I still feel crappy about the fact that as soon as dinner is over we just transfer to the couch until our 10pm bedtime. I had this idea that we would do one chore a day each, so when the weekend came, there wasn’t anytihng left to do, but that has never happened….
I was just thinking the same thing as I came home from work and parked my butt on the couch for the rest of the night!
