Throughout my pregnancy I’ve been looking for non-maternity clothes to wear with a bump. This over the belly maternity skirt can be worn whether you’re pregnant or not! Today I’m sharing are 3 Easy Pencil Skirt Outfits with a Bump.
Let’s be honest – sometimes the best maternity outfits are non-maternity items styled creatively. Before I ever thought I’d have another baby, I saw a pencil skirt pulled up over a baby bump in a photo on Pinterest. The outfit was adorable, so I took a mental picture. Now that I’m 8 months pregnant, I ordered this cute pencil skirt on Amazon for under $20 to wear this fall with a bump.
3 Easy Pencil Skirt Outfits with a Bump
There are so many different ways to wear a pencil skirt with a bump, but I think the best thing to do is to show off your belly! If you pull the pencil skirt up over your baby bump, you have plenty of space to add a variety of tops. Here are 3 ways to wear a maternity pencil skirt:
- Tie the bottom of a cardigan or button down shirt at your bump
- Wear a bodysuit under the pencil skirt
- Tuck a non-maternity fleece, sweater, or shirt under your bra

Note: My bodysuit is from J.Crew factory a few seasons ago and non-maternity – it still works with my pregnant belly! Size up on any regular bodysuit or purchase a maternity bodysuit to wear under a pencil skirt. I love bodysuits because they eliminate bumps and folds from trying to tuck in a shirt over a baby bump.

Note: I love Dudley Stephens fleeces and wear them year-round. However, not every style covers my belly! I found that you can tuck their shorter fleeces under your bra, above your pregnant stomach, when wearing a high waisted skirt or full dress! Never bought a Dudley Stephens?
