Sharing a bump update for Caitlin Houston at 27 weeks pregnant. Here is a summary of my symptoms, cravings, weight gain, and more!
How far along: 27 weeks 4 days pregnant – We are staying with my family in Connecticut for my sister’s wedding events for the next two weeks!
Total weight gain: 20 lbs – I am happy to say that I am not gaining weight as rapidly as I did during the last few weeks.
Baby Size: A small pot roast.
Baby Facts: If baby A was born now, she would have an excellent chance (85 percent) of surviving. However, she still isn’t fully formed and would probably not be able to breath by herself.
Movement: Lately she has been so low that I only feel her when I bend over and squish my belly. If she isn’t hiding, then she is transverse (sideways) and I feel her on both sides of my belly at the same time. At this same time in my pregnancy with Annabelle, the doctor discovered she was transverse on an ultrasound. Baby A doesn’t seem as active as her sister though.
Sleep: Why am I suddenly waking up on my belly?
Cravings/Aversions: Suddenly I am tired of blueberries and cereal and struggle to find something satisfying for breakfast. Fresh cold fruit is always a favorite snack!
Symptoms: Dry mouth – I am constantly feeling like I can’t get enough water. I had bloodwork done at my last appointment and there is no sign of iron deficiency, so who knows what’s going on!
Charlie Horses – In the middle of the night or early morning, I often get charlie horses in my calves. The doctor said its caused by low calcium, potassium, or magnesium. Out of the three – magnesium is probably where I’m slacking. I have to find a supplement soon or I will go crazy with these leg cramps.
Sense of smell – I thought that a heightened sense of smell was something that happened in the first couple of months of pregnancy – but I swear mine is getting stronger. I had some garlic dipping oil at lunch and wasn’t able to stand the stench that came out of my mouth every time I spoke.
Exercise: Nope. Just not happening.
Randoms: While looking for a storage basket in Home Goods today, a woman told me I should make a decision quick because it didn’t look like I had much time left…all while staring at my stomach. Nice of her to say – especially since I thought I was on the smaller side.
I attended my little sister’s Cape Cod bachelorette party in all my pregnant glory over the weekend. I received a couple of looks from strangers in Provincetown for being in the center of a group of young girls celebrating with the bride – but also had multiple people say, “Woah I didn’t notice you were pregnant!”
Favorites: Sharing the baby’s name with family and friends has been fun! I was worried about their reactions for a minute – so we planned on keeping it a secret. But then we realized we don’t really care if people like it or not. All that matters is that we love it and Annabelle can say it.
Wondering? Here is my 27 week bump update with Annabelle.
