I am so happy that I have made it through my second week of nannying – the kids are really growing on me and I find that each day we get along even better than the day before. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have to spend your days with a stranger when you are only five years old….scaryyyy! Today little T worked some more on expanding his pallette when he added butter instead of cream cheese to his turkey, strawberry jelly, and yellow american cheese sandwich. He says it tastes like, “blueberries.”
Last night I made enchiladas for me Mr. Bear. They were a regular dinner item in my house growing up and I felt like I was ten years old again as soon as I put the first bite in my mouth. My mom gave me her recipe – it is so easy and worth the long time it takes to make.
Check it out here!
As I worked on my yummy dinner, I read through some of my cookbooks for inspiration for some bear-y delicious dinners. We decided that if we created a menu and a matching grocery list for a two week span, we could save money and time having everything planned out ahead of us.
So far some of the menu items are:
Pork Chops Pizzaiola & Spaghetti
Cheesy Noodles, Skillet Chicken n Broccoli
Mushroom Risotto & Asparagus
Crab Stuffed Chicken & Salad Greens, Olives, Cucumbers w/ balsamic dressing
My recipes are from Paula Dean’s “The Lady & Son’s” Cookbook and this Italian Family Cookbook my Aunt K from Idaho sent me for Christmas a few years ago. I can’t remember the author’s name right now, but she includes a story with each recipe as to where or when she first had the dish. I’ll cover all of that on my cooking blog…
We are heading to hometown, CT this weekend to celebrate my parent’s birthdays. I bought my mom the Skinny Bitch books (thanks Miss Kriss for turning me on to those!) and for my dad we bought him Mad Men Season One. We are going to have a big lasagna dinner with my parents, brother and sister in law, my nephews, and my sister and her boyfriend. Then my cousin, 2nd sister T, and her boyfriend D are coming over for some late night vino and snacks. This will be the first time in almost 5 years that I will be able to DRIVE HOME! I am so excited I can’t stand it =0)

I am a HUGE fan of making weekly menus. I definitely find that we save money by doing this. I’m looking forward to trying some recipes from your cooking blog! I wrote on my blog a few months ago about my “new recipe of the week challenge”-I got stuck in a cooking rut & challenged myself to make (at least) one new recipe a week so you are helping me out. Thanks!
(I’m not sure if I ever commented on your blog before-I don’t know how I found it but I’ve been enjoying it!)
