Living in New England has so many perks – one of which is the abundance of beautiful towns to visit along the shoreline. Newport was one of my favorite places to go for a quick trip away when I was younger, and now that I’m living in Connecticut, I’m so excited to be able to visit anytime. When I decided to take a girls getaway I knew we had to stay at the best hotel in Newport, RI – a funky boutique hotel called Gilded on Brinley Avenue.
Thank you to Gilded Hotel and Lark Hotels for hosting us. All opinions are my own.
When my friend, Beth, and I pulled up to Gilded, a massive purple Victorian home tucked away in a residential area on a tree lined street, we were immediately excited about our 24 hours away. Who would have thought a hotel could be situated in an old home and carriage house? The Lark Hotel’s name is derived from the Gilded Age, a glittering era of rapid growth when Newport earned its place on the map when the world’s richest families built their massive summer homes on the coastline.
Gilded Hotel’s check-in process is super quick and easy. Once you’ve signed in for your stay, the front desk hands you a complimentary iPad to use during your stay. The iPad is a unique amenity, pre-loaded with apps, websites, and more to make exploring Newport easy and finding a place to eat, drink, shop, and play enjoyable.

Our Room – The Gilded Suite
Out of the 17 amazing guest rooms at Gilded, we were booked in the Gilded Suite, located on the first floor. Upon entering the suite, you’ll notice the funky decor, a toasty gas fireplace, giant bright windows, and plenty of room to make yourself at home.

The Gilded Amenities
One of my FAVORITE amenities at Gilded is the complimentary breakfast. Since Beth and I were the only guests at the hotel during the middle of the week (and off season), we had our personal plates awaiting us in the butterfly lobby when we woke up. Not only did the hotel serve us a sweet tapas style breakfast, but they also made a savory plate. The food was mouth-watering and delicious and Beth and I are still talking about the best breakfast we’ve ever had.
The BEST Breakfast in Newport
After breakfast, I took a cup of coffee back to the room where I could work on my blog and edit photos from our trip. The free wifi is necessary, the unlimited coffee is SO delicious, and the cozy bed makes working during a getaway absolutely enjoyable.
Other Amenities at Gilded
Other amenities include (but are not limited to): waffle kimono robes, free wi-fi, iPod/iPhone docking station, room essentials (hair dryer, wine opener, etc), complimentary bathroom toiletries, a courtyard (where one can eat breakfast during warmer weather), a billiards room, and a guest lounge with plush decor. Gilded Hotel is meant to be wandered with a cocktail and enjoyed in every way.
My Overall Opinion of Gilded Hotel
Staying at Gilded Hotel in Newport is truly an experience. From the amazing concierge (ask anything!) to the funky decor to the delicious breakfast to the ideal location, Gilded Hotel is the perfect hotel in Newport, RI to spend a night or two. During checkout we spoke with the incredibly sweet manager, who told me I should return with my family sometime soon – so we know they’re kid-friendly. I’m looking forward to another visit when the weather is warm, so we can enjoy breakfast on the patio and walking to the shops, restaurants, and attractions nearby.

Love that they kept the victorian charm intact and the decor is gorgeous! It’s nice to see some whimsical prints and colors instead of sterile white and grege.

This is what hospitality looks like. So homey and pampering. Many times you leave a vacation and end up not getting the relaxation. Would love to visit one day
