Happy first day of Autumn! Our family said farewell to summer over the weekend with a lot of outdoor fun, but I barely took any photos. I am trying to be spend more time in the moment and less time behind the lens. Every Monday I regret the lack of photos from our adventures though. Here is our weekend recap with two important highlights, as well as what I’m looking forward to this week.
Celebrating the First Day of Fall
I am only a little disappointed summer is over because fall is my favorite season. Everything about fall makes me happy – from the weather to the food to the holidays. Our fall decor is almost completely up in our house, but there are still a few important items missing.
PUMPKINS! Our front porch needs real pumpkins, gourds, and a few cornstalks before it is complete. Here is some fall porch decor inspiration:

Weekend Highlights: The First Day of Dance
One of our weekend highlights is the first day of dance. Fall always means the start of new things – like school and dance. It’s Annabelle’s fourth year dancing and Ailey’s FIRST year of ballet. I danced for over ten years, so I have been excitedly awaiting for the day I could watch both of our girls dance.
Annabelle is a member on the newest Company class at her dance studio and will participate in two competitions in the spring. She takes ballet, tap, jazz, and acro. Ailey is in the youngest dance class at the studio for 18 months old – 3 years old children. I think she will do well as one of the oldest in her class.
Weekend Highlights: A Pregnancy Announcement
I’m absolutely over the moon to announce my sister and brother-in-law are expecting their first child! The family has been keeping the big secret since mid-summer, so it feels good to finally tell the world. I took the pregnancy announcement photos over the weekend in their vintage Chevy Nova. We won’t know the gender until November, but I predict baby Stec is a boy.
Aside from dance class and the pregnancy announcement, our weekend recap wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the weather. I am always over 80 degree days by the first of September, but we made a point to enjoy the warmth.
What’s Coming up This Week
Tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY! I don’t have any big plans for Tuesday, but a shopping trip with my Mom and dinner at my favorite restaurant. Next weekend my siblings and I are getting together to celebrate at my house and I’m very excited.

Love the fall porch decorating tips. We call this great big gourd “Princess Pumpkins” where I live. We would be told to bring a beach towel, load the selected “princess” on the towel and move it to ur vehicle on the towel. Enjoy!
