Read a recap of our fun filled Connecticut weekend during the summer.
Sometimes when life is overwhelming, it’s best to get outside and soak up New England’s natural beauty. As an established lover of cooler temperatures, I’m a huge fan of the weekend’s weather. Saturday was gray, cloudy, and a cool 60 degrees. Sunday was high 70s, breezy, and sunny. I know a lot of people may complain that this doesn’t feel like summer, but it’s a welcome break from humid and sweaty days.

We decided to pick blueberries Saturday morning at a local orchard. I was debating between rain boots (like these or these that are on sale!) or my new pair of booties. I choose the boots… and not just a long sleeve shirt, but a sweater too. It was actually chilly – and big tall boots are definitely required for berry picking. There were so many smushed berries on the path and lots of buts. I snagged this cardigan for an amazing price a few weeks ago and it is perfect for the weather.
Lyman Orchards has always been a place I love to visit. From fresh apples to homemade pie to the fall corn maze, there is so much to do at the Connecticut orchard.
This was my first time blueberry picking in the summer.
We had an adventure searching for the bluest fattest berries and trying to keep Ailey’s hands out of the crate. Next time we go, we will wear one of the bucket necklaces so she can’t reach the berries before we get home. We joked they should’ve weighed her instead of our crate.
Annabelle was so proud to pick fruit, just like one of her favorite Daniel Tiger episodes.
On Sunday we visited a little hidden beach in Guilford, Connecticut. My brother-in-law’s family has spent many Connecticut weekends at this beach! The sun was shining, people were out clamming, and we were able to sneak in a quick trip between Ailey’s naps. She has to nap twice a day or she is a bear.

Sunday afternoon we walked through town to get ice cream and then helped my sister set up the nursery for Sloane. She is set to arrive in less than a month! Here’s a sneak peek of her closet – made by her Daddy.
Clearly it’s just a screenshot from my Instastory, I promise there will be real pictures once we are done. The nursery is wildflower-themed with a lot of mixed wood and wicker baskets. The rug my sister found on a second hand sale group is so gorgeous I want to steal it for myself.
Happy Monday!
