The first time I ever noticed Annabelle take interest in a toy was at her Sip-n-See in Connecticut last month. My Aunt brought her a little musical teether and when I pulled it out of the bag I thought, “There’s no way she is ready for something like this.” Well, my Aunt hit the button, the music started, and Annabelle’s eyes lit up. She grasped the teether between her hands and went wild licking the beads. I was astonished. I was also excited to discover Annabelle first “Favorite Toy.”
It has been almost 3 weeks and Annabelle still goes crazy when we pull out Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes.
The Easter Bunny (aka Noni aka my Mom) brought Annabelle these Infantino Discover and Play Soft Blocks while we were in Connecticut. I didn’t know if Annabelle would take interest in these either, but she grabbed for the block with the yellow ring when we set them in front of her. She LOVES these blocks. She likes to shake the ones she can grab (they have rattles inside) and eat the ones that don’t have a handle. She seems to enjoy the different textures on each side of the block as well.
I read about OBall FlexiLoops on multiple blogs discussing toys for five month olds. I picked it up last week and Annabelle loves it. The loops make it easy for her to grasp and she likes to put it in her mouth. She can play with this toy during tummy time, while she is sitting in her bumbo, or while riding in the car. She also enjoys throwing it off her high chair onto the floor…
I bought Sophie the Giraffe Teether a month ago after seeing older babies at Mommy and Me with the large Sophie the Giraffe. I figured the teether’s handles would be easier to grab for my little one. She took a liking to the teether – lighting up when we showed it to her – but it was hard for her to really hold onto. Now, a month later, she has a great grip on the teether and can stick all of its parts right into her mouth. I think we will graduate to the bigger Sophie in a month or so…
I don’t know about that thing…
OK ok ok… I like it!
What were your baby’s first favorite toys?

It’s a bigger toy, but my little guy loved the Fisher Price Kick and Play piano from about 4 months til about 14 months! It’s great for tummy time, for when they like to lay on their back, and once they are sitting you can adjust the piano part so they can still use it. Great toy for only about $50!

That Baby Einstein music thing is AMAZING. Abbie is STILL playing with it occasionally!

The interest in toys around here is minimal, My 11 month old really just prefers to climb on everything, but she still loves plastic eggs the Easter bunny forgot to take back.

That Baby Einstein toy is one of Noelle’s favorites, too! She also LOVES Sophie and we have a set of keys that rattle, have beads on them, and one plays music and she loves those, too.
