Have you ever wondered the story behind my blog name?
There are three stories actually, one for my first blog, one for the name change to Confessions of a Northern Belle, and one for the reason behind me not changing my name now that I actually live back in the North.
If you’ve followed me since the beginning – my first post was published November 6, 2008 – you know that my blog name used to be Think Happy Thoughts.
I chose that name based off my love for Peter Pan and my fiance’s similarity to the main character’s way of life. There were other blogs with the same name but at the time I was just a blogspot so it didn’t really matter. A year after I was married, I finally had a proper photo my myself for the the blog:
When I decided to rebrand myself with a new layout and a WordPress.org account, I knew it was time to change my blog name. My blog content had changed drastically with the events of my life. I was no longer writing about planning a wedding to my very own Peter Pan, I was now posting the confessions of a northern girl living in the south… and for some time, they were the confessions of a girl living in Maryland.
On Wednesdays, I used to host a link up called “Confessions” where I’d invite others to share their deepest darkest confessions of the week.
I loved sharing everything from what I secretly ate late at night or something embarrassing I may have done while driving. After I had Annabelle, I continued with the confessional and it felt good to get some things off my chest. There came a point when I decided that I didn’t have to dedicate one day to confessions, and I could just spill the beans any time on my blog.
I’ve always loved writing because I feel like I’m getting the words that are crowded my mind out into the atmosphere. Sometimes they’re words of wisdom, other times they’re words of complaint, and once in awhile they’re just a bunch of nonsense that needs to be said. My words are all a bunch of confessions.
You can read all about how I came to call myself a northern belle here. I’ve been questioned whether or not I will change my blog name again now that my family and I actually live in Connecticut, but I won’t be rebranding myself any time soon. Living in the south shaped my persona as much as growing up in the north. I’m still a northern belle, just with a different zip code.
