Happy October! ‘Tis the season of pumpkins, falling leaves, and Halloween. Today I’m sharing Our Family’s Awesome October Bucket List!

My husband is always excited to decorate our house for Halloween with the girls (it’s one of his favorite holidays!). We won’t take down our fall decor, but rather sprinkle the jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, and spooky ghosts amongst everything else. Per usual, we have a busy month ahead of us – but I want to make sure I slow down and soak in the best memories of this season.
Our Family’s Awesome October Bucket List
Back in 2018 I created an October Bucket List for our family (just like September). Every year we talk about the fun things to do in October and create a new list based on the conversation.
October Bucket List Plans for 2024
October is historically a busy month for the Houstons and October 2024 is no different. We kick off the month with Celebrate Wallingford, our town’s annual fall festival. I’m excited for a fall family trip to Cape Cod (we booked a house through this website). There will be pumpkin picking, PTO Trunk or Treat, 5th grade Nature Day, adult tap class, and so many birthday parties. Whenever I have free time, I’m working my professional photography side gig taking senior and family photos. In a pumpkin seed shell – there will be lots of fun fall and Halloween memories made!
Our Plans for October (2018 version)
From our town’s Annual Celebration to Annabelle’s preschool Scarecrow festival, we are booked every weekend. My in-laws are making their first big trip to visit us the third week of October too! I’m so excited for them to see how the house has changed since we bought it in June. We also may have another visitor (my husband’s best friend) fly in from California. If so, the girls will be excited to see their “Uncle.”
Brandon and I are celebrating nine years of marriage on the 17th with a trip to Cape Cod and Nantucket. If you don’t already know, Cape Cod is where Brandon proposed 10 years ago. I’m excited to spend some time in one of our favorite places with him (sans kids). We have never been to Nantucket and we are looking forward to exploring the quaint island. I love your list!! There are so many great things to do in New England. My husband and I love cape cod as well, it’s so gorgeous.
Fall is just the best and October is prime fall time. I cannot wait to go halloween costume shopping with my girls and watch they get so excited to put on those costumes for our upcoming Halloween parties and trick or treating. I also can’t wait to do a smores + fire pit in our yard now that it gets darker and cooler earlier! Yay October!
Yep, my list is pretty similar! Except watch Hocus Pocus is on the list every day! (as are Casper, Halloweentown, Teen Witch and all the other good ones!)
In a couple weeks I’ll also be going to Disney’s Halloween party to celebrate my birthday! Woo! Trick-or-Treating at Disney is going to be the besttttt

Bucket list for my October? Um.. make it through my vacation in Florida! I know it sounds funny, but my boyfriend is meeting my family for the first time, and it’s his birthday so it’s going to be expensive!
Great list! We went pumpkin picking in Avon last weekend and it was so fun. Have an awesome time on Nantucket! I’ve never been either, but can’t wait to go. I keep saying I’m going to spend two weeks there on my 40th birthday. If you’ve never read Elin Hilderbrand, be sure to pick up one of her books before – she has the best novels about Nantucket.
