Enjoy my latest installment of Random Things: January 2024. From random things on my mind to what I’m reading or watching, here is a peak at my January.
Random Things – January 2024
As we settle into 2024 I have to pause and remind myself that nothing has change. And nothing needs to change if I don’t want it to.
There is so much pressure from society around the “New Year” as the time to start over. January is the month where you set goals and make plans to do and BE better than you were the year before. Lose weight, de-clutter, move on, start fresh, and CHANGE your ways.
The truth is, today is just the day after yesterday. There are no rules in life when it comes to making changes. Do what you wish when it comes to living the best life you can live.
If it means setting an intention to do things differently – then be gentle on yourself. Remember, it takes time when you’re making adjustments to your every-day-routine. Whether its physical, spiritual, emotional, or tangible – it can take anywhere from 18 to 254 days for a person to form a new habit and an average of 66 days for a new behavior to become automatic.
8 Random Things on My Mind – January 2024
- I caught my annual New Year’s virus pretty quickly and wonder – do I always get sick after the holidays because my immune system is weakened from ‘celebrating’ for days on end? According to this article – I would say yes.
- This week I’m stepping into a studio to do something pretty incredible… it’s a secret project I’ve been working on for a few months now. I’m not gatekeeping the project – there’s just nothing tangible to share yet. But once I have something – you will hear about it first.
- Will Taylor Swift ever admit her mistake? And yes I am calling her big cover-up a mistake. I think the world deserves to hear the secret duet with Matty Healy!
- My 8 week adult tap class has been extended into the new year. There is a chance we will perform in the recital – and believe it or not – I am excited. As are my daughters. Back in 2019 I bought a costume for our scheduled performance but the pandemic ruined all our plans, so this would be amazing.
- We finally had a little snow storm and it was so good for everyone who loves that part about winter. It quickly melted with a huge rainstorm though. Now, if we can make some more happen… that would be lovely.
- I don’t get the Stanley cup hype and never will. Just give me a water bottle I can easily carry that keeps my water cold during hot yoga and I’m happy.
- Wait, I actually do get the hype. Influencers made Stanley cups seem as coveted and trendy as the Birken bag saga in season 4 of Sex in the City. Remember when Samantha got fired from her job for trying to snag one?
- I’ve made it a personal vow to not get caught up in that world anymore. Not to say there wasn’t a time when I stood in line at 5am at Target to snag something from the Lilly Pulitzer collab… BUT that isn’t me anymore. Nothing is worth that kind of effort and energy.

On My Radar – January 2024
- Wearing: Shorts + Tights – One of my favorite outfits from childhood was a navy bodysuit with navy pull on shorts, navy tights, and brown penny loafers. I’ve tried to re-create the shorts + tights look whenever it comes back on trend and am excited it’s here AGAIN. These are my new favorite shorts to wear with tights – now I just need some penny loafers.
- Watching: The new season of Bluey is just as adorable as the last. Why is this the best cartoon ever made?
- Loving: Sezane – I can’t speak enough about this French brand. It is so well made that the clothes arrive wrapped beautifully and smelling magical. I believe in spending money on clothes that last and so far – everything I’ve bought is worth it. I have my eye on the Daisy jumper and the Claude bag (which would be an investment).
- Watching: My daughters and I will be watching a new reality show about DANCE on January 19th on Amazon Prime! And Brandon and I will have something to watch weekly again when True Detective Season 4 airs on January 14th.
- Following: all of these tips for staying hydrated this winter.
