Over the last year we have learned a lot about Ailey, like she has a great memory when it comes to dance choreography! She really blossomed in her Petite Company class and showed her wide range of stage faces at competition. Everyone was blown away by her performances – especially hip hop!
We also learned Ailey is a young empath (which explains a lot of her emotional struggles). Through therapy and a few changes around the house, she and the family have learned coping skills and strategies for her wide range of emotions. I know her intense connection to emotions is one of the reasons she has really started to blossom as a dancer. She has a huge heart, feeling what others feel around her on a very mature level. If I am sad, she knows it, and will be the first to give me a hug.
Favorite Things to Do at 8 Years Old
More Fun Facts about an 8 year Old: Ailey LOVES art and being creative. She can take the most common household object, or even a piece of trash, and turn it into beautiful. I love to see what she creates in her spare time. She also enjoys ‘Learn to Draw’ tutorials and videos showing how to create tiny homes. For Ailey’s 8th birthday she asked for gift cards to Michaels to buy supplies to make her own tiny house.
Our 8 year old has an amazing sense of humor and loves to make me laugh. She can be goofy and silly, but also knows when it is time to be serious. She’s going to second grade in a few weeks and we know she will have a blast. Ailey’s a great student, always paying attention and offering to help her classmates when necessary. She is actually one of the oldest students in her grade because we kept her in preschool an extra year. Starting school at 6 was one of the best decisions we ever made for her developmentally!
