The perfect birthday for a tartan Christmas fan like myself is a plaid themed party. Here is a peak at my Plaid themed “Plaid is Rad” 30th Birthday party.
Last weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday with friends and family in Connecticut. The theme was plaid and a little bit of Christmas (two of my favorite things). My Mom and sisters outdid themselves with the cutest decor that warmed my heart, and all of the guests wore their best plaid attire.
Plaid Themed Party Food? Or Just an Awesome Menu
One of my favorite stations was the Build-Your-Own-Crostini/Antipasto Bar. The guests had a choice of a variety of toppings for their garlic-oiled crostini:
Topping options: olives, artichokes, marinated mushrooms, roasted red peppers, balsamic vinegar and cracked red pepper olive oil.
There was also fresh Mozzarella, Tomato, and Basil skewers, Bruschetta, and Spinach Balls. We ate Green Olive Balls, Seafood Salad, and so much more.
Not pictured: Vegetable Pizza, Eggplant Stuffed Bread, Pepperoni Stuffed Bread, two Baked Bries, Wings, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms, and Mini Tacos. All of the food was labeled with in gold ink on a tiny chalkboard.
Gold sparkles compliment a plaid themed party very well. My sister made gold sparkly champagne glasses for the girls using glitter and glue. My 30th birthday party would not have been complete without champagne!
The Plaid Moose Birthday Cake – Happy 30th Caitlin!
As you may already know, I have been eating dairy free for Annabelle. My plaid moose birthday cake was dairy free and incredibly delicious! The cake was made by a friend who owns Alyssa’s Cakery in Wallingford, CT.
The plaid birthday party cake also featured winter details since it is my favorite season. With tiny white snowflakes and a plaid moose made of fondant, I could not have been more impressed! Alyssa knew exactly what I loved!
The Party Decorations
My parent’s buffet has been in the family for quite some time. I love how it was decorated with all of the beautiful drinking glasses and the signs made by my sister. There was a special Christmas wine glass hidden behind the sign that I didn’t see until the party was over! We served various red and white wines, bubbly drinks, and Fall beer.

Happy belated birthday! And how fun? ! I love themed parties!
I love the idea of a Build-Your-Own-Crostini/Antipasto Bar. I like that it has veggie options!
WOW!!! What a party! I’m a little jealous but what a fab party! Happy Belated! Xoxo
What an adorable theme!! I love it!!
And for the champagne glasses- try using ModPodge over the glitter- it still shows up super sparkly, but it helps seal it better than normal glue and you shouldn’t lose as much glitter!
So glad you shared photos! What a fun party.
Looks like fun! My 30th is in December and I still have no idea what I’m doing! For the glasses, try finding the clear spray lacquer. I found the Modge Podge dulls the glitter. Spray outside since it’s stinky, but apply 2-3 coats (letting it dry in between) and you should be golden. I make them all the time for my side business.
Love the decor and theme!
I have used Krylon spray lacquer on glittered champagne bottles. It keeps most of the glitter on, but some does inevitably fall off. In my opinion, the finer the glitter, the better it will stick after you apply the lacquer.
Happy belated birthday!
This is SO adorable Caitlin!!! I love the colors and all the personal touches 🙂 Happy Belated birthday dear!
Happy belated birthday! This looks like such a cute party, I love your sparkly champagne glasses and think it is adorable that the theme was plaid with a hint of Christmas. So much fun!
