Sharing a little life lately update with what we have been doing and what will be up to during July in 2024 on Caitlin Houston Blog.
Life Lately – July 2024
Happy July! Summer is chugging along nicely over here. My big girls attended a Taylor Swift art camp this week while Arbor and I prepared for our annual Cape Cod family vacation. This summer we are spending almost two weeks on The Cape, so there is a lot to be organized before we hit the road. I actually still reference an old blog post when I’m preparing to stay at a vacation rental.
I forgot to write a life lately post last month sharing my and the girls’ dance recital, end of the school year thoughts, and my trip to Las Vegas. If you get my newsletter then you didn’t miss anything – you can sign up anywhere on my website to stay up to date. I have a lot of thoughts about my first dance recital since high school. It was scary, thrilling, and an accomplishment I am quite proud of. Hopefully it is not my last as performing our hard work from the adult tap class is so rewarding! My daughters were in awe and so proud of their Mom too – that felt amazing in itself.
Want to know more about my quick weekend in Vegas? I wrote all about my girls trip to Sin City here. One of my favorite moments was dinner with a view of the Bellagio fountains!
Summer Favorites – July 2024
WHAT I AM READING: Reading has always been one of my favorite escapes from reality, but motherhood leaves little time to do so. I brought this book on my flight to Vegas, but didn’t open until the last hour of my flight home. It was the fourth time I attempted to read a A Court of Thorns and Roses – and guess what? That hour was life changing because I am now fully committed to ACOTAR. Once I finish Book 5 on vacation, I have a list of similar books to try. Bonus: My neighborhood has a Book Club, so I have more reason to make time to read!
WHAT I AM LISTENING TO: My most played songs are currently “Risk” by Gracie Abrams, anything by The 1975, and a mixture of Taylor Swift’s music. Arbor memorizes songs so quickly when I listen to them on repeat, and “Risk” is her favorite to belt out on our morning rides.
SUMMER DRINKS + EATS: I am a creature of habit when it comes to choosing a summertime cocktail: always wine. However, this summer I’m trying new cocktails, like martinis, seltzers, and different brands of Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé. My sister is making Lychee Martinis on vacation and I will report back on my thoughts! As far as summertime meals – I can’t get enough lobster in my diet this year. We steamed lobster tails on the Fourth of July and they were the best I’ve ever had!
What’s Ahead – July 2024
Summer has never been my favorite season. Mainly because I despise the heat and pressure to do all the summer things. This year I decided I would take it one day at a time, enjoy the little moments (hydrangeas blooming!), and appreciate the time our family has together. We are off to Cape Cod and Florida for the majority of the month and into August. I feel grateful to have the opportunity to travel with the ones we love most – and hope you enjoy following along. Have a great July!
