Friday afternoon I drove home from work giddy with excitement – I was going to pack our bags and get to sleep nice and early so at 4am Mr. H and I could drive to Florida for our engagement pictures.
What I came home to is now something I will never forget – our aparment had been broken into. I went to unlock the front door and it was already open, so I turned the handle and saw the door frame lying on the floor. I called out to see if Mr. H, or maybe a maintenance person, was home – but quickly realized what was really going on when I saw the empty tv stand. I slowly backed out of the apartment and called Mr. H, our aparment leasing office, and 911. The lowlife worthless jerks who kicked in our door took an array of things – from electronics, to jewelry, to personal items – such as an empty ring box (from my engagement ring) – and left random items untouched, like my camera and pearl earrings.
We are so very grateful and lucky that we have renters insurance AND that no one was home during the robbery. I know that they will most likely never catch the piece of crap(s) that invaded our home – and I will never again see the pictures of Mr. H and I (from the beginning of our relationship) that were stored on my laptop. But we must remain optimistic and see the good in this – we are going to get the heck out of ATL and our small apartment now, I will get a new laptop, and we are safe. Granted I am scared/mad/sad/confused – I know that neither one of us was physically harmed in the situation and I must thank the Lord for protecting us in that way. I could go on and on at how the thought of someone touching our personal property makes me nauseous, and how I don’t want to go home alone after work today, but I will spare you all of my complaining (Mr. H and my mom have heard enough of that).
I will get to everyone’s questions in a few days (hopefully some more people will post some Qs for us by then!!).
In the meantime… I have a little surprise to show you all…
